The Change

Chapter 12

The years have come and gone, their congregation runs about 400 people now and counting, the building was packed full, they had the doors opened and the windows opened, people were bringing their fold-up chairs, they had to put a few speakers outside of the building as well. Pastor Rudys church was growing.

So Monday morning when Little Crow went to work, he was in the office working on trying to build a bigger church. He and his buddies at work started helping him draw out the church. So around lunchtime, he went home with the drawings. When he arrived home Mary made some lunch, she had it set on the table already with a glass of ice tea.

"This is amazing," said Little Crow.

"Thank you," Mary sitting down.

They prayed for their lunch and started eating.

"Hey I want to show you something, it is a drawing I did, I'm going to show it to Pastor Rudy and see what he thinks about it," said Little Crow.

Little Crow handed Mary the drawing of what the new church would look like.

"Oh wow, this looks amazing, I think Rudy would love it," said Mary.

"I think so too," said Little Crow.

His radio went off, so he kissed his wife on the head and left the house in a hurry. He was on call. Again, working late Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, he had Fridays off because of church and his unit understood that he was a Christian man. So Wednesday he and Mary arrived early as did Big Man and Sherrie, Little Crow showed Pastor Rudy the drawings and he loved it all.

"This is great," said Pastor Rudy.

"We will put some of our money in the offering plate for the new church building," said Little Crow.

"That is great, thank you so much," said Pastor Rudy.

So they went to their seat up front and sat down, then here comes White Eagle and Ivy, they sat down next to Little Crow and Mary. Again, the church was packed full of people, people brought their chairs as well and sat them outside. Rudy started preaching when everybody was done seeking the Lord the Pastor started to talk.

"As many of you know or can see that our church is growing rapidly, praise the Lord, now it's time to build a new church, so with the community's help we are going to build a new church, we already have the donation money to build a new building, with the help of sister Ivy's father's employees, we can build a new church, this will be great for newcomers as well, help set up bible studies while we come together," said Pastor Rudy.

"We would also like to thank sister Ivy and brother Little Crow for coming up with the plans of building a new church, thank you," said Margaret.

So the church was over and everybody went home and had lunch and took naps before night service. Then around 6:30p, they left to go to church, it started around 7:00 pm. The church was packed full again. So the next weekend, they hired Ivy's father's employees to come out, the community helped Pastor Rudy clean out the church before demolition. Once it was knocked down people with shovels and big machinery started to haul debris into the big dumpsters. Once it was cleaned up in about a month or two, they finally started to smooth out the ground for the foundation.

Once all smoothed out, they started to pour concrete. Sunday morning, they had church outside and Sunday night service as well as Wednesday. Little Crow decided to take a vacation time to help start the building foundation of the new church. But what Little Crow did not know? was that Big Man and Sherrie were giving Matthew and his wife bible studies, So they too started to go to church and they helped as well. So many people and Little Crow did not know that Matthew and his wife have been coming to church. Little Crow saw Matthew and nodded his head and smiled, Matthew smiled back and started to help again.

It took them months to a year to finally finish the new church, now everybody has a place to sit, the church was thriving, they finally have a Sunday school where the kids and young teens can go as well and toddlers and infants, with lots of activities as well.

The reservation is becoming a great place to live now, there are still a few of those that still drink and sleep out on the streets and cause havoc in the community, but God is still working into those people's hearts, now the Native people have something to truly trust and believe in. That is the Lord Jesus Christ.
