Chapter 8

My dad walks into the kitchen, looking as if he was about to say something when he looked up and saw mom and I. He looked back and fourth between us. He slowly but his breefcase by the table and took his shoes off to put them by the door.
"Is something wrong?"
My mom is the one to speak up first,"Sort of. We have something I think we needed to discuss a long time ago to our daughter."
My dad gave a confused look for a couple seconds when he figured it out.
"Oh, she found out?"
"I didn't tell her, she just randomly came up and asked"
My dad looked at me bery confused.
"What gave you the thought that you were adopted?"
I was seriously debating whether or not to tell them the truth. In the end my heart won out.
"We are learning about adoption in FACTS class. I have just been noticing that I don't look like you guys at all. Then I was curious so I decided to ask you. So it's true? I'm adopted?"
Both of my parents blew out big breaths and they both said at the same time," Yes."
At that moment I felt like my whole world came crashing down. I could tell my parents knew that because they both came to me and put me in a big bear hug.
My mom was the one to speak next.
"Sweety, the fact your adopted doesn't change how your father and I think about you. We have raised you as our own. You are our baby girl, never forget that."
She hiccups while she is speaking. Then my dad joined in," You have and will always by my baby girl. Now Aisy, if at anytime you want to talk about your birth parents feel free to talk to us. We used to know your parents."
We were all crying and hiccuping but it was turning into happy tears.
" I do have one question though, where are my birth parents?"
My parents looked at each other and nodded. I glanced back and fourth between them until my dad spoke up," They passed away. "
That is what broke me. I got off the couch and went into the kitchen
No, why me.
My mom entered the kitchen and hugged me," It's okay, remember that your father and I are here for you whenever you want to talk."
I smiled at her and nodded my head.
"Now, lets finish supper before it gets to be midnight before we eat."
We laughed and carried on with our usuall ritual
