Today is a big day. Today is the day me and Michael finally leave our bubble. Which is bitter sweet. I like our bubble. We were happy in our bubble.
Just me, Michael and Stella spending much needed quality time together. As a family.
That was still such a weird new word. Family. I had a family now. One that absolutely couldn't be made of better people. I love my family. I'm going to miss my family and the little bubble we've created around ourselves.
It's not like I'm leaving forever. There's just work and life to get back to and it's not like I didn't know we couldn't hide out in my apartment forever.
Aside from the fact that there's a whole world going on outside my door, Stella and Michael have been walking around in their diaper and briefs since the day before.
None of their clothes were at my place and Michael couldn't be bothered to go next door to grab some.
"Morning." I yawn, walking past the dining table and into the kitchen. "Why wont she say it?" Michael huffs with a pout. He's been trying to get Stella to say dada pretty much since I told him about it.
"Maybe you did traumatize her." I mutter with no real thought as I pour myself some coffee. "Charlie," he whines. "You're supposed to be on my team here."
"Right, sorry." I shake my head and take a sip of caffeine. "Okay, um, maybe she's just nervous." I offer. "Nervous? She's a baby."
"Well then I don't know, I'm not a baby whisperer. I'm trying to be a helpful girlfriend here." I frown not thinking much of the g-word. "What if she never says it again?" He pouts. "Well that's a bit dramatic isn't it?" He sends me glare.
"Sorry. Just, try not to push it so hard. She'll say it when she's comfortable and ready. Give her some time, she has to say it eventually." I reply easily, sliding into the seat in front of him.
"That's easy for you to say, you didn't even have try!" He sulks. I smile wide, Stella humming mama as she stuffs her face with eggs.
"I love you." I stifle a giggle at the pouting man. Michael rolls his eyes. "So..." I trace my finger over the rim of my mug. "We have to leave our bubble today." "Or we could just stay here," Michael hums. "And our jobs?" I cock a brow. "I don't suppose those are going to get done on their own."
He shrugs. "I've made enough money for us to fall off the face of the earth and not have a single person bug us." "Hmm sounds tempting but then I'd just be stuck with you 24/7." I tease.
Michael pops his mouth open with an exaggerated gasp. "You're fired." "Fired from what? I don't work for you." I chuckle. "Fired from being my girlfriend." He sniffs. "You can't fire me from being your girlfriend, it doesn't work that way." I muse.
"Well it does now. You're fired." "Good. Does this mean I wont have to go off the grid with you?" I grin. "Charlotte Grey, I cannot believe you!" He gapes. "Did you just full name me?" "Drastic times call for drastic measures." He shrugs.
"Whatever Gordon." I start. He interrupts with another gasp. "Oh yes. I did just middle name you." He shakes his head. "I'm going to work now. Is your mom picking up Stel or will you be taking her to daycare?"
"I'll take her. You're picking her up right?" His eyes follow as I move around, collecting my things. "Yeah I'll get her." I call back, all but rushing to the door.
I barely get to the knob before I remember I'm forgetting something. That something being my goodbyes to my family.
With kisses to cheeks and foreheads I'm off to work unfortunately popping that bubble in the process.
