It is important to learn correct stroke orders from the beginning. Let's begin with two general principles of Korean writing (same as of Chinese calligraphy):
1. Everything horizontal moves from left to right.
2. Everything vertical moves from top to bottom. How to Combine Consonant with Vowel
Any written syllable in 한글 (Hangeul) must begin with a consonant sign. This means that even when the syllable contains no spoken consonants (i.e., when it begins with a vowel in pronunciation), you still have to start the syllable with a little circle "ㅇ" representing a zero consonant.
A vowel letter is placed to the right, or below the initial consonant. Possible patterns therefore are as follows:
//Legend: C - Consonant; V - Vowel//
C | V
Examples: 가, 다, 사, 나, 마, 라, 해, 더, 키
C
---
VExamples: 고, 구, 므, 노, 무, 유, 오
'Yung may mga final consonants naman sa isang syllable (kung meron man), palaging nakalagay siya directly below ng sinusundang consonant and vowel, regardless sa kung paano sila naka-arrange, whether horizontally or vertically.
The possible combinations are...
C | V
--------
CExamples: 성, 김, 박, 정, 한, 감, 남
C
---
V

CExamples: 송, 홍, 윤, 글, 손, 눈
한 | 글
H | A G

Lㅎ | ㅏ ㄱ

ㄴ ㅡ

ㄹMas compressed ang block na may three characters (C-V-C) kaysa sa block na may two characters lamang (C-V). However, kailangan magkaka-same size pa din silang lahat, regardless of the number of letters contained in it. It is therefore necessary to make the size of the letters smaller when a syllable contains three or four letters, as you will see in the examples below. See for pronunciation last lesson.
The possible combinations are...
C | V
--------
C | CExamples: 읽, 삶, 젊, 멺
C
--------
V
--------
C | CExamples: 굶, 읆, 돐
Gets nyo po ba? 'Yan lang for today's lesson.
