Chapter 13

Shizuka

Dumating na kami sa bahay ni Akina.

I ran to her front door and rang the door bell several times while knocking. Bumukas naman ang pinto pero hindi si Akina ang sumagot. Kundi isang matandang lalaki. Kilala ko siya. Siya yung hardinero nila.

"Manong si Akina po?" tanong ko

"Nandoon siya sa taas iha. Pasok kayo." sabi niya.

Pumasok kaming dalawa ni Shiro and walked upstairs.

"Bakit dito Shiz?" 

"Kailangan kong kausapin si Akina. Kailangan kong malaman kung ano talagang nangyari" sagot ko.

"Shizuka hindi na importante yan. Baka nag-retire na sila?"

I stopped and look at him. Hindi ako makapaniwala na sasabihin niya iyan.

"Siguro hindi importante para sayo Shiro but for me they're my everything. Our friendship is everything. Tsaka hindi lang sila basta't basta'ng magqui-quit ng ganun. There must be a reason behind it." 

With that Shiro fall silent. 

Nang dumating kami sa harapan ng kwarto niya. I knocked and called out her name. The door opened at sinalubong kami ng nagtatakang mukha ni Akina.

"Shizuka. Ang aga-aga pa anong ginagawa mo rito?" tanong niya.

I didn't answer her but instead pulled her inside her room. Sumunod na lang si Shiro. 

"Aki may kailangan tayong pagusapan" I said at umupo sa bed niya. Ganun rin ginawa niya. Shiro on the other hand sat on the sofa.

"Ano ba Shiz?"

"I went to the our gang house and found out that no one was there except si Red and 2 morons. Tsaka sabi ni Red na---"

"The gang disbanded?" Patuloy niya.

"Yes---wait ang sabi niya they quit. So you mean they disbanded the gang?" tanong ko. She nodded.

"A week after you disappeared. We were so depressed and Red was the one who felt the worst. Alam kong aware ka naman diba na mahal na mahal niya talaga ang group natin? So the next day nagulat na lang kami that a bunch of gangs grouped together. Sa tingin there was about 7 gang in one group."

"Ilang groupo ba ang meron?"

"Thankfully just one. On the day they raided our hideout. Sinira nila lahat. We fought them but they weren't playing fair and square. We were outnumbered. 11 against 83 kaya napilitan kaming umalis na lang. Red didn't want to gusto niyang ipagtanggol ang hideout."

Red. I have to say sorry to him. Hindi ko alam kung gaano siya nasaktan sa nangyari. If only I knew that this would happen. I should have stayed with them facing my problems. Pero isa akong duwag. Tumakbo ako sa problema ko kahit alam kong lahat ng problema hindi ko pwede iwasan dahil kung iiwasan ko ito mas lalo itong hahanap ng paraan para lumapit sa akin.

"S-so why did the gang disbanded?" tanong ko. My voice shaking. My hands trembling. Huminga ng malalim si Akina bago pa siyang nagsalita.

"After we fled from the hideout another problem arose. Since matalik na magkaibigan ang mga magulang natin. They think that being in a gang is childish. They said that instead of playing games they should be helping out with the family business. At dahil wala ka they thought that it's probably best to retire from all the violence. "

"Bakit kailangan nilang tumigil? Can't they just continue it without me?"

There was a long pause of silence. Nakatingin lang sa akin si Akina na para bang I'm missing the point.
