Battle

"Ugh, I don't have time for this!" I shouted as I smashed another gem cluster. We'd been fighting them for an hour and I just wanted to go home.

My hair was down, and covering my eye, while I forgot my glasses. I couldn't see anything. I thought I saw a cluster, so I swung my mallet at it. It turns out it was Amethyst.

"Hey! Watch where you're swinging that thing!" She said

"Sorry!" I said.

Frustrated, I charged one and missed, knocking Pearl over. The last cluster escaped.

Everyone looked at me, annoyed.

"Uh...Sorry."

All the gems were yelling at once as we got home. They were all yelling at me. I couldn't stand it. I pushed them out of the way and ran upstairs, going into my room.

I sat on my bed and tugged on my hair, frustrated and angry. I was furious. I just wanted to run away, or smash my gem and cease my existence. But I didn't. I was tugging my hair when I felt a hot liquid stream down my face, and little droplets falling onto my pants, creating a small dark spot. I was suddenly aware that I was crying, something that I hadn't done in years. I was suddenly overwhelmed with rage and sadness. I burst into tears and hugged my knees, crying harder than I'd cried in a few years. I disappointed the gems, I let the cluster escape. I'd failed. Right then, I felt like I couldn't do anything right. I wanted to smash my gem. As I sat and tugged my hair, tears of anguish flowing down my face, I felt someone sit next to me, and I saw Garnet. I ignored her, and kept tugging my hair.

She put a hand on my back, and I shook her hand off.

"Celeste-" She began

"Don't bother. "

"Why are you so upset?"She said

I sniffled. "I can't do anything right! I can't remember my glasses, or my hair, heck, I can't even smash a stupid gem cluster! I'm a defective, broken, worthless gem!" I slammed my fist against the wall and continued to cry.

"You are not worthless. And you tried your best. Everybody has those days where they can't seem to do anything right. I have them too." She said

"No, you don't! You're too perfect! Everything you do, it's like you don't need to try! Just- just go away!" I yelled and hid my face.

Garnet sighed, and left, closing the door softly behind her. I laid down and sniffled, quietly crying until I fell asleep, my cheeks stained with tears full of pain and anger and sadness.
