Chapter 44

  "That wasn't very sunglasses emoji." You laughed as Emil beat you once again at UNO. "Get rekt." He smiled as he shuffled the deck, "You wanna play again? I brought chess too." 

  "Chess sounds cool." You said. "'Kay." Emil said as he dug around in his backpack. Arthur was sitting in his chair looking at his phone contently. "Ah, here it is. Black or White?" He asked as he pulled the box out of his bag. "I don't care." You said. "Neither do I. You gotta pick." The silver haired boy said as he pulled out the pieces. "Uh, okay. I guess... White." You smiled. He smiled back as he pushed the white pieces toward you. You and him quickly set up your individual pieces and after a small battle over who would start Emil moved a piece to begin the game.

Arthur: This is the most intense game of chess I have ever witnessed. They've been at it for almost an hour...

He sent another photo he had snuck of you and Emil both looking with intense concentration at the board set up between you.

Matthew: Tell me who wins

Alfred: wheN WILL THEY JUST BE MARRIED

 After staring at the board in silence for an extended amount of time, you moved a single piece and quietly said, "Checkmate I think."

  Emil sat up and studied the board intensely. After frantically looking for any means of escape, he sighed and narrowed his eyes at you. "Rude." He smirked. "Get rekt." You grinned. As you discussed setting up for another round, Emil's phone buzzed in his pocket. He fished it out and sighed as he looked at it. "We finished the game just in time. Lukas is here." Emil said. "Ah. Thanks for hanging out." You smiled as he stuffed the game into his bag. "It was fun." He replied as he walked toward the door, "Bye (y/n). Goodbye... Sir." 

 After he closed the door, Arthur let out a laugh. "I can see why Alfred freaks out over you two." He smiled. "Not you too..." You sighed. "Your friend is a very polite young man. That's important today." Your dad said as he picked up his phone.

Arthur: (y/n) won.

Matthew: Called it.

Alfred: WHEN IS THE WEDDING

Alfred: BTW CAN I VISIT SOON

Arthur: Yes, you can visit. I have yet to be updated about wedding plans.

 "Have they told you when I can leave?" You asked suddenly. Arthur looked up from his phone and sighed. "No." He said sadly, "But Alfred is coming over today, if that cheers you up. I was talking to him and he knows Emil came over, so be prepared to answer questions about when you and your friend are getting married."

  "Alrighty. " You laughed.
