-Asher's POV-
She bit her lip, and I realized that it was just a nervous habit. She scratched the back of her head, deep in thought.
"What's your last name?" She asked finally, looking up from her lap. I smiled softly.
"Rails," I told her, causing her to smile.
"Rails," She repeated, happy for some unknown reason. I grinned back, happy also.
" My turn," I smiled, "What's your's?" I asked curiously.
"Wheeler." She hummed, "Favourite colour?"
"Black," I said easily, and it continued on like this for about two and a half hours, her eating soup and asking me questions, and me eating crackers and answering all of them.
"Why did you save me?" She asked suddenly. My eyes snapped up to her's, and she regarded me calmly, waiting for my response. Clearing my throat, I scratched the back of my head, deciding to tell her part of the truth.
"Wellllllll.." I started, dragging out the end of the word. "When I saw you, it was like everything stopped. I didn't know why, but when I saw you there with tear stains on your cheeks, passed out on the ground, it was like something inside of me snapped. I couldn't stand the thought of you being hurt, and it killed me. I didn't want to think of someone hurting you- it made me want to hurt whoever did it. And honestly, it was like you drew me in, and all you were doing was laying there, passed out. So I picked you up and carried you home, but wherever my skin made contact with your's, my whole body tingled. It was weird at first, but I liked it, it was amazing... I'm sorry if this is weird to you, but you're someone that I want to have a future with.." I bit my bottom lip, looking down at her.
She watched me, obviously surprised. I was about to jump right in and apologize to her for being so sudden and forward, but she stopped me before I could.
"Y-you felt that t-too..?" She choked, still shocked. "I saw you and I felt the exact same way.. It was so weird, because I never trust anyone. It's just so weird to trust someone when you just met them, and it's still a bit scary to me. And whenever I touch you, I get the tingles like you said. I don't think I'm ready for too much right now, I mean, I'm still getting used to talking to other people other than Matt, but... I just feel really comfortable around you for some reason. It's still new to me, you know, having friends. Matt never let me have any friends.." She trailed off, tears forming in her ocean blue eyes. She quickly looked away, embarrassed.
"Hey," I said softly, placing my index finger underneath of her chin. I tilted her face up to mine, forcing her to look me in the eyes. "It's okay, you have me now. He's not going to hurt you anymore." I murmured, and she gave a small nod, before stepping on her tip-toes and wrapping her arms around my neck. She hugged me tight, burying her face in my chest. I was a bit taken aback, my eyes wide, but my body reacted before I could. I snaked my arms around her tiny waist, holding her close. She gave a sigh of contentment when I nuzzled my face into her neck, lifting her off of the floor so she wouldn't have to be on her toes to hug me anymore.
