"No." Asher said, leaving no room for discussion.

Sighing, I gave a small nod, looking down. "Okay," I said quietly.

I felt him gently tug my hand, smiling slightly as the tingles shot up my arm and straight to my heart. I trusted him with my life, but that doesn't mean I trusted everybody.

I was still scared of people, scared that they would hurt me. Matt was still out there which made it even worse, but I knew my mate would protect me.

With my free hand, I reached up and trailed my fingers across the mark on my neck, biting my lip to stop myself from breaking into a grin.

When we finally reached Ash's room, he dropped my hand and walked over to the closet, coming back out with a pair of sweats and the tee-shirt I was wearing when he found me. Only now, it was perfectly clean.

"Thank you, Ash." I said quietly, stepping up on my tip-toes to kiss his chin.

He laughed out loud, shaking his head. "And where do you think you're going?" He chuckled, grabbing my waist and kissing my lips hard.

I giggled into the kiss, kissing him back.

When we pulled apart, I shyly slipped the sweat-pants up my legs. I had only been wearing Asher's tee-shirt, so.

He watched me with hungry eyes, taking no shame as his eyes trailed up and down my body as I tediously switched shirts. "You're so beautiful," He said huskily, and I gave a small sigh. I knew I wasn't anything close to beautiful- dirty blond hair and dark blue eyes. There was nothing really special about me, I was just normal.

"Not really," I muttered, low enough so he couldn't hear me. I was wrong, I realized, as he growled angrily.

"What was that?" He asked me, his voice questioning and strained.

"Nothing," I lied, looking up at the ceiling. I yelped as his hands reached out and grabbed my hips, yanking my body to his.

"Don't lie to me, little mate." He ground out. But I wasn't scared of him, I knew he'd never hurt me.

"I'm not," I retorted, crossing my arms across my chest.

He growled lowly, pulling my body flush to his. Bending his head down, he started to lick and suck my neck where his mark was.

"I can tell when you're lying, Astrid." He informed me, pulling  the skin with his teeth. I whimpered. "Now, what were you saying?"

"I said 'Not really'." I breathed,  gasping as he bit the skin once more, licking and kissing it to soothe the skin, sending pleasurable shivers down my spine.

"And why?"

"Because I'm not beautiful," I whispered. He pulled away from my neck abruptly,  his now dark eyes narrowing to slits.

"Do you know what most male mates would do to their mates if they ever heard them say that about themselves?" He asked me, raising an eyebrow.

When I slowly shook my head, he continued. "Most male mates would hold them down by the throat and screw them into submission." My eyes widened, and he nodded. "Now, I'm not most male mates. So this will be your one warning. Say anything like that again, and I'll be forced to make you believe you're beautiful from a different approach."
