I'm not going to make an effort to talk to someone if they aren't going to make one to me. They left our house to get ready for tonight. I went up to my bathroom and showered so I didn't feel as disgusting from the plane.
CODY'S POV
She was so weird. Why did we have to invite them round for dinner? I hate new people. I hope she doesn't join our school.
Dad made me change so I looked smart for them coming round. I really didn't care what they thought of me.
The doorbell rang and Mum and Dad answered it. Julie and Luci were standing there. I have to admit Luci was a sweet girl but she is so weird. With her British accent and blonde hair.
We were seated next to each other at the table. I wish I could leave. She had some really strong perfume on that she obviously took from her mum. Anyway she had too much on and the smell was overwhelming.
Luci's POV
Why did I have to sit next to Cody? I just wish he wouldn't look at me like I was dirt on the bottom of his shoe. Mum looked at me and smiled, I smiled back a half smile that I had to force. I want to go back to England.
Our dinner went quickly and eventually me and mum headed home. I got home and went out onto my balcony. I heard a guitar and someone singing softly.
"Hello?" I said. "What do you want?" They said. "Cody?" "Yeah," he said like I was meant to know. "Sorry I'll go," I said as I turned to go inside. "Sorry," I thought I heard him whisper. I shrugged him off and went inside.
I laid in bed and turned on my laptop. I went on Skype and saw my best friend was online. I phoned Megan. "OMG Luci!! I miss you already!!" "I miss you too Megan! I met some people today, their son is like our age but he is really horrible to me!" "Oh no! When do you start school?" She asked. We spoke for about two hours about Cody and school. I really missed Megan. I might never see her again. I didn't want to stop talking Megan, she was all I had left of England. I have to invite her here. And soon. I'm actually terrified of starting school. What if everyone treats me like Cody does? And I don't even have anyone in England to go home and live with. My grandparents are dead and I've never known my dad. So I'm stuck here until I'm at least 18.
I had to go because it was 4 in the morning and I needed sleep. I hate it here. There is nothing positive I can say about it.
I woke up to singing again. I knew who it was and I didn't dare go and talk to him. I went downstairs and found a note on the counter saying 'Luci, I've gone shopping with Angie, she says if you'd like you can go next door, be home by dinner. Mum x' Great. I have an empty house and my only option for any social activity is with people that hate me. Awesome.
I wasn't going to go next door. I ran back upstairs and went onto my balcony. "Cody!" I called. "Yeah?" He replied almost in a nice way. "Is Alli in?" I asked him. "Yeah." He replied bluntly. "Can I talk to her?" I asked. "Why don't you get her?" He said getting more annoyed. "Really?" I said walking off back into my room. Forget it I will find my way to the beach myself.
I quickly changed into something more suitable for the beach and left my house. I walked straight down my road and it wasn't long until I found the beach. People were everywhere. I set my towel down and plugged in my earphones. I put my sun glasses on and closed my eyes. Possibly the only good thing here is the sun.
"You know you should probably get home. Your mum just got back." I heard someone say. I opened my eyes to see Cody standing over me. I stood up and we walked back together. "I'm surprised I haven't burnt," I said thinking out loud. I heard Cody laugh slightly. "Why are you being nice?" I asked him. "I feel bad about yesterday with the way I treated you," he said. I nodded and we walked the rest of the way home in silence.
We got back and I went straight to my room. "Luci! Dinner!" Mum called. I walked downstairs went to the dining room. Cody and his family were there. I was once again seated next to Cody. This time he wasn't so nice to me. He ignored me when I tried talking to him. His sister Alli was nice though. Me and her talked all the way through dinner.
"Luci, I got your school uniform today, will you try it on later please?" Mum said. I nodded. I really didn't want to start the new school. "What school are you going to?" Alli asked. "All Saints Anglican School" I replied. "Same as us!" She said excitedly. I smiled but I heard Cody grunt annoyed. Why is he so two-faced?
After dinner the Simpson's all went home. Me and Alli agreed to meet up tomorrow and go to the beach. I liked Alli she was really nice. She would be in the year below me at school though which is a shame. After they all left I tried on my school uniform. Unfortunately it fit perfectly. I really wasn't looking forward to starting school on Monday. It was Sunday tomorrow so I only had one day left.
I went to bed and checked my Skype to see if Megan was online. She wasn't so I left her a message. It said: 'Had a nice moment with Cody today. It didn't last too long and he back to hating me again. Me and his sister Alli are getting on quite well! I really miss you Meg! You need to come out here! Talk to you soon!'
I shut down my laptop and got ready for bed. Laying in bed I heard singing again. I walked out into my balcony and Cody was sitting on his. "Do you enjoy singing?" I asked. "Did you enjoy sticking your nose in my business?" He said picking his guitar up and going back inside. What was his problem? I don't understand what I have done wrong!
