I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining through the window. I've been here for about three days and I feel like I have accustomed well to this world. I get up and walk to the dress I laid out the night before. I slip it on and walk to the vanity in my room and put my long black hair in a braided bun. I put the necklace Ann gave me and my mother's bracelet on.
I walk out my room to see Ann cooking breakfast which was ham and eggs. She sets the food in front of me. "Thank you, Ann." She smiles. "How do you feel about the job at the general store?" I cut into my ham and put a piece in my mouth. "I'm excited. I've never had a job before." She laughs. "I think your gonna do a great job, hun." I smile. "Well, I should get going." I get up and walk to the door.
"Good luck, hun." Ann yells as I leave the cabin. When I make it into town, I walk in the general store to see Henry about to open. "Aphrodite, just in time. You ready?" I nod my head and he shows me the ropes of the store. I sit behind the counter and wait for a customer to walk in. "Dear, I have to go somewhere for the day. Are you going to be ok?" I nod my head and shoo him out the door.
The bell rings and in walks two men. One with brown hair and the other with black hair. There heads are turned so they don't see me yet. "Henry, is there anymore..." the one with brown hair trails off and looks at me with wide eyes. He looks like someone I know" but I can't remember. "Hi. Henry isn't here. Can I help you with something?" The brown haired man green eyed man keeps staring. Then the one with black hair turns and I can't help but just stare at his perising blue eyes. They just keep staring at me. Is there something on my face?
"Can I help you gentlemen with anything?" I ask again. The brown hair man clears his throat. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare. We were wondering about the new shipment of coffee." He asked. I walk from behind the counter and check and see there isn't any left.
"I believe Henry left to go get the shipment. I'm sorry." I say with a shy smile. The black haired man steps up. "It is ok. I don't believe we've seen you from around here. I'm Damon Salvatore and this is my little brother, Stefan." He says kissing the back of my hand and I blush. "My name is Aphrodite Dimetri." They look at me with curiosity. "What kind of name is that? If you don't mind me asking?" I shake my head and smile. "No. Not at all. My name is greek. It means love, beauty, and eternal youth." Damon then smiles. "Well, a name fit for a beautiful women." I smile and look down. "Why thank you."
It then goes silent when the two men continue to stare. I clear my throat. "Is there anything else I can get for you gentlemen today?" The shake out of there trances. "No. We must go. But it was a pleasure to meet you Miss Aphrodite." Damon says kissing my hand and I smile. "The pleasure is all mine." I say while Stefan kisses my hand. They then walk out but not before waving goodbye.
I get back to work and tend to customers that come through. Soon, Henry comes back and it's time to close. I walk home and when I get there I smell the aroma of beef. "Ann, your food smells like heaven." I say stepping in the door.
She laughs and places the food where I sit at the table. "So. How was work?" I start to eat my food and swallow. "It was great. I meet these two brothers. The Salvatores. I think?" She nods her head. "Yes. The Salvatores. Damon and Stefan. They are part of the founding families." I look at her confused. "Their family is one of the families that founded Mystic Falls." I nod making my mouth into an 'o' shaped.
We continue to talk and I tell her about Greece and the places I've been to in the world. I help with the dishes and go to my room. I play with my necklace while I lay in the bed.
I can help but think about my family. My mom and dad and my siblings. I have one brother and two sisters. I'm the youngest of the three. There's my brother, Markos, he's the oldest. He's your typical big brother that protects his younger siblings, but I'm the closes to him then the other two siblings. Then there's my identical twins sister, Serena and Serenity. They can sometimes be to happy for their own good, but I'm kinda the same way so I can't talk. Then there's me, little ole Aphrodite.
Then there's my mother, Sophia, her name means women of wisdom and she lives up to it. I can tell her anything and she would understand without judgement. Then there's my father, Alexander. He is the last one of the royal family. He can be very intimidating but has a soft spot for his family like any man does.
My family has been in hiding for over a thousand years. I decided to come a shore, and live like a human for awhile and show my father that humans arn't as bad as they seem anymore. That we can leave normal lifts above land. I soon turn over to let sleep and my dreams consume me.
