Jenna's paws ached. The journey was maybe a little over a mile long and took a just less then twenty minutes. Once there, Jenna and Kayto began to sniff around the rocks and cliff side. Dug into the cliff, which was engulfed in trees, was the entrance to a cave. We waited until we were inside of the cave and then turned back into humans. Jenna and grabbed two jackets but other then that and her necklace they didn't have any other personal positions.
The inside of the cave was long and the front was covered in ivy. The wolf statue stand proudly at the back of the cave. It was made of a greyish stone and was scratched. One of it's fangs was chipped. It's ears were flattered back and it's tail was wrapped around its body.
Jenna pulled her necklace over her head and placed the purple crystal in the mouth of the wolf. The glittering lilac portal appeared just behind the statue, on the back wall of the cave. Kayto looked at Jenna before turning to the portal. As they stepped forward together, not a word was spoken. Both knew what to do.
The inside of the crumbling outhouse was surprisingly warm. The walls were peeling and ivy had  began to grow up the wall however the large stone bricks did a good job at insulating heat. Jenna turned to the small wolf statue beside this portal. It was not any better looking then the other, as it was covered in moss and had broken ear. Jenna pulled her necklace out of this wolf's mouth and closed the portal. Kayto pushed the broken wooden door open to reveal a lush green forest. They were miles away from the kingdom and it had turned dark rather quickly. Jenna and Kayto turned in wolves, silently agreeing that the long journey would be easier on paw.
The forest was alive with fireflies. Everything glowed greenish-gold. The forest seemed endless. Sometimes the odd rock or stream would appear for them to jump over. It was dark and if you climbed through the trees you'd see the stars shine bright.
The end of the forest finally appeared. The town had began, wooden houses and small shops lining the roads. They lead to the middle of town, where a large tavern sat firmly in the centre of the road. People were walking up and down the streets and a couple of people in wolf form were sulking around in the shadowy alleys.
"The Barking Alpha," Kayto shifted back into his human form and pointed up at the tavern's swinging sign. Jenna turned back into a human and smiled.
"I remember," She nodded. The thought of place filled her with gleeful nostalgia.
"I'm gonna go in..." Kayto went to go inside "See if, you know, he's in there..."
Jenna knew who he was talking about. She shook her head, softly.
"First, we'll go to the palace and them we'll go to the Barking Alpha,"
Kayto nodded and followed her. The palace lay upon a hill. In fact, the whole kingdom did, but the palace stood on the highest point of the hill. The palace's gates were closed and two guards were standing in front of them. Jenna walked up to them.
"Could you please open the gates so that I can get through?" She asked, politely
"No, ma'am, sorry," one of them replied, without looking up
"Why not?" She suddenly realised that all the other times she had done this she had been with her father, the Captain of the Royal Guards. "My father was Captain of the Royal Guards. His name was Captain Amos Silver,"
"That's great but I can't let you through," the other man answered. Jenna looked at Kayto.
"Can't you get Prince Rowan or something?" Kayto asked
"Captain Rowan Jayce?" One of the Guards asked. Jenna nodded. It was possible that Rowan had won his way up the ranks to be Captain of the Royal Guard. That was his name after all. One of the guards left to fetch Rowan.
