One Day

Chapter Twelve

In a split second, Alcazar was thrown to the ground. It took Jenna a couple seconds for her to process what had happened. She leaned forward and saw that Rowan had knocked Alcazar off of his feet. The two of them rolled around in wolf form. Jenna began to panic. She got up and turned into a wolf, quickly. Rowan had been knocked to the ground but had gotten up. Jenna jumped to his side and stood beside him. Rowan growled, baring his teeth.
Kayto limped forward and stood behind Rowan and Jenna. Ty and Skylar stood beside him. Alcazar was up on his paws, snarling in anger. Jenna lashed her fangs about. Rowan's purple eye burnt, furiously.
Alcazar's enforcements appeared from the nearby forest. Before Jenna knew it, a fight had broken out. Alcazar turned tail and ran away from the battle. Jenna snatched her sword in her jaws and bounded after him. He ran towards the trees, trying to escape. Jenna dropped her sword and barked after him. Alcazar turned around, blade in his mouth, and faced Jenna. His dark eyes grew wide with fury. He spun on his giant paws and jumped forward, swinging his blade around. Jenna nimbly dodged the blows, using her tail to balance. She caught Alcazar's shoulder on the edge of her sword. It bleed obsessively, the sticky red pouring out of the cut. As he landed, he kept his paw up, so not to put pressure on his wound. He turned and jumped forward again and Jenna dodged it once more. She flew towards him, slicing her sword across Alcazar's muzzle. He sprung his jaws open and yelped in pain. As he did so, he dropped his blade. He lashed out with his fangs again but Jenna was much faster. She dashed past him, her sword cutting straight through his neck.
Alcazar fell to the floor with a thud. Jenna's sword hit the ground and she turned back to the bloodied body. Alcazar had been a worthy opponent but in his pride had gotten in the way and he had become over-confident and cowardly. Jenna lifted her and howled. The other wolves, whom had been fighting at the time, came to a stop after hearing the sound. The Night Prowlers began to crawl away into the shadows. Rowan made his way over to Jenna. Kayto limped along side Ty and Skylar.
Jenna stood, in human form, and waited for her friends to join her.
"You did it..." Rowan looked up at Jenna. She nodded.
"Yeah. I did." She sighed "How long he'll stay dead is another story entirely..."
"What do you mean?" Kayto asked
"Evil never dies..." Jenna answered "The Night Prowlers may come back one day..."
"And? If they do we'll be ready," Skylar smiled. Jenna watched at Rowan's purple eye glittered. She looked down to see her necklace too was glowing. Lifting her sword off of the ground, Jenna smiled.
"What do you say, we go back to celebrate?" She smiled
"The Barking Alpha's become the burning Alpha. Where should we go?" Kayto asked
"Back to my palace!" Smiled Skylar as she jumped, enthusiastically
"Wait, my job just burnt down to the ground..." Ty sighed. Kayto laughed under his breath causing Ty to give him a light shove. Jenna smiled. She wasn't sure what but something was going right for once.
