Jenna spotted Skylar walking towards her and Kayto. She smiled and they walked in the tavern.
Long wooden beams lined the roof of the buildings and a few tables dotted around the place. A bar resided at the far side of the room.
"I'm gonna go..." Kayto paused and looked across at the back door. Jenna smiled and nodded before sitting down beside Skylar.
"Ya want somethin' to drink?" A woman in a skimpy dress asked
"Yeah, why not? Surprise me," Skylar laughed. Jenna smiled to her friend, who for a princess didn't act very royal.
Kayto knocked on the big wooden door to the back of the room. A boy in his late teens appeared in the doorway. He was tall, though not as tall as Kayto, and he had ginger hair and brown eyes. His nose was dusted with freckles.
"Hiya, Kayto," the boy smiled.
"Hey, Ty," Kayto nodded. Jenna smiled. She was glad to see Kayto looked so happy. He hadn't seen Ty Grant in some time. "I missed you, Freckles," Kayto nuzzled into Ty's hair like a wolf greeting it's mate. Ty giggled and pulled away.
"I have people to serve, Kay," he made his way over to a group of new customers. Kayto went to sit beside Jenna.
"If only all of your cool kid friends from school could see you getting close and personal with Freckles over there," Jenna laughed. Kayto shot her a look. "I'm gonna tell them you're gay,"
"I'm not gay; I'm bisexual. Anyway, nothing wrong with being gay," Kayto sniffled. Jenna giggled.
"Never said there was," she laughed and patted him on the shoulder. The barmaid passed Skylar a glass.
The group stayed at the tavern for a while, drinking and eating, having a laugh and catching up.

They made their way back to the palace. Jenna said goodnight to Skylar and let her lead Kayto to one of the spare rooms. Jenna went to go and find Rowan, who King Thorn told her, was in the sword room.
Rowan was standing in the room, holding a glistening sliver sword. The hilt of the sword was incrusted with rubies.
"Hi," Jenna greeted him
"Hey," Rowan looked up at her before turning to place his sword back on the wall.
"That's a nice sword," Jenna went to stand by his side. Rowan shook his head.
"I've seen nicer," He smiled "My father has a collection of swords," Rowan turned to gesture at the many swords hanging on the walls. "Your father's sword was the nicest sword I've ever seen," He nodded.
"It was very pretty," Jenna agreed. She remembered the golden and white sword he would hold as he rode his horse about on the battlefield. It had matched his armour, the same armour Rowan was wearing now.
"You're Captain of the Royal Guards now; the sword belongs to you," Jenna smiled and leaned up against Rowan, gently.
"No, that sword belongs to a fallen soldier, a very heroic one," Rowan sighed "It'll stay on his memorial,"
Jenna nodded. She walked across the room, to the furthest wall. There her father's shield and sword were left in the hands of a fully sized statue of Captain Amos Silver.
"You're a lot like him you know," Rowan smiled and wrapped his arm around Jenna's shoulder. She smiled and reached up to touch her father's old white and golden shield.
"How did this whole thing begin?" Jenna whispered "Why did this happened?"
"You know what happened..." Rowan spoke, softly
"Yeah, but could you remind me?" Jenna murmured. Rowan nodded.
"It all started when we fell out with a group of lone wolves," He began "They wanted our land and it started a border war. We fought over territory but we didn't think much about it. They started to get violent. We begun to sent patrols out every night. Some of our men got hurt. They didn't fight on horseback with swords; they fought dirty. My father and your father went out with a patrol to see what was happening and then they were attacked. Your father was killed, so my father declare war upon them. We called them Night Prowlers because they primarily attacked during the nighttime. You and Kayto left Lyacana. Skylar and I started our training immediately. She became a warrior and learnt the ways of the healers. I took your father's place as Captain of the Royal Guards," Rowan turned to look at Jenna. She forced a smile. "And after a while things got worse. Then, you came back," He smiled and his eyes brightened. "But, everything will be fine now that you're here,"
"Let's go to bed..." Jenna smiled. Rowan left his helmet in the sword room and lead her up the stairs.
