It wasn't until the next evening, that Taylor and Carson's betrayal truly sunk in for Alexa. Today had been the day that they were supposed to reveal their secret to Alexa, at the hands of Kaydie's ultimatum; but it never came. Knowing what she did, Alexa had grown impatient of waiting for them to come to her so instead she decided to quicken the blow by inviting both parties over to see Isabella. It wasn't a surprise to Alexa when Taylor declined her invitation citing that she had plans with her family, but she couldn't deny that she wasn't surprised when Carson had accepted. After all; he loved his daughter.
As she waited for Carson to arrive at the house, Alexa questioned Kaydie about the snooping she'd been instructed to do. As she busied herself with laundry she came to the conclusion that her friend hadn't been very successful given her relationship with Taylor. It appeared her assumption was wrong though.
"So obviously I knew Taylor wasn't going to tell me anything..." she shuddered as she spoke Taylor's name and Alexa couldn't help but chuckle, "So I had to delve a bit deeper..."
Alexa motioned for her friend to continue, as she folded the laundry from the basket sitting on her bed and placed it into neat piles on the bed.
"So...I turned to Facebook for help. For once I'm happy Taylor's a gobby cow" Kaydie smirked as she cradled Isabella in her arms, "She posts everything, and I mean everything on Facebook!"
"And...?" Alexa demanded placing the pile of laundry in her arms down on the bed and turned to face her friend, her hands placed sternly on her hips.
"Did you know they used to date?" Kaydie asked carefully, aware that her friend had been putting on a brave face in the past few days.
Alexa didn't even have to verbally answer the question; the shocked expression on her face answered it for her.
Kaydie took Alexa's silence as encouragement and continued, "As far as I can tell it was in the summer two years ago and..."
"That was the summer I stayed with you" Alexa interrupted and Kaydie nodded.
"I don't really know what happened in between times but they broke up around the beginning of September from what I can see on her profile"
Alexa sat down on the bed in shock. She was meant to be Taylor's best friend and best friends told each other everything so why didn't she know this? Surely back then Taylor had nothing to hide, and most likely had she known this story she might have been more hesitant to get involved with Carson in the first place. The one thing she knew though was that Taylor should have told her, knowing that Alexa was getting involved with someone she had a history with.
"It's a bit of a mess eh?" Kaydie sighed, standing up and making her way over to the crib in the corner of Alexa's bedroom. She slowly leaned down and carefully placed Isabella into the crib, ensuring she was wrapped up snugly in the pink baby blanket.
"Do you know what's an even bigger mess?" Alexa retorted wearily as Kaydie plopped down onto the bed beside her. She didn't wait for a response, "My head and my feelings for Carson."
"What do you mean?" Kaydie asked curiously turning to watch her friend carefully.
"I dunno" Alexa sighed rubbing her tired eyes, "For some reason, I feel all my anger is aimed at Taylor and not Carson. Don't give me wrong, he should have told me about his past with Taylor but she's my best friend. It should have been her job to tell me, not Carson's. She knew that this situation was going to end up in disaster at some point, maybe not through an unwanted pregnancy but through one of us growing feelings and the other not reciprocating. She let my feelings for Carson intensify and yet she was messing behind my back with him. It's twisted."
