Alexa Martin, 16 - Female protagonist. She's an only child and before her pregnancy she lived with both her mom and dad.
Carson Michaels, 17 - Male protagonist. Lives with his parents although he tells Alexa that his family's a 'train wreck'. The reason for this statement is never revealed in book 1.
Taylor, 16 - [Ex] best friend of Alexa. Had a relationship with Carson when she was 14 [he was 15] and she was pregnant with his baby until she suffered a miscarriage.
Lissa Martin, 44 - Alexa's mother. At the beginning of the story it's explained that she hasn't been the most hands on mother but this quickly changes as Alexa's pregnancy progresses.
Joseph Martin, 46 - Alexa's father. He's the main cause of her suicide attempt and makes no attempt to reconcile with his daughter. After the incident his wife kicks him out so he stays with his parents down south.
Kaydie, 16 - Childhood friend of Alexa's who moved away when she was 14. She comes to stay with Alexa after her discharge from hospital, although it is unknown why she's left home.
Daniel Jacks, 18 - Best friend of Carson, although he doesn't have as big a 'player' reputation.
Everly Andrews, 16 - Classmate of Alexa. To begin with Alexa believes she's a gossip but she finally comes to the realisation that she's a good person and they become quick friends.
Dustin Andrews, 18 - Older brother of Everly and teammate of Carson. He shows a genuine interest in Isabella when Alexa brings her to the sleepover with Everly.
Angie, 22 - Alexa's hospital appointed counselor.
