It had been a week since Alexa had read Taylor's letter, and she still felt the same as she had after reading it. This had been the biggest betrayal she'd ever felt and nothing was going to change her feelings about the situation.
When Kaydie had returned from her walk with Isabella she'd found Alexa lying on her bed crying her eyes out. Alexa hadn't been able to speak; instead she thrust the now soggy piece of paper into Kaydie's hand and let her read it. To say she was shocked as she finished reading the letter would be a massive understatement.
"Did she seriously think that everything would be okay?" Kaydie snorted folding the letter, "Especially after that letter..."
"I hate her even more" Alexa confessed, "Okay, so maybe I understand why she didn't tell me back when we were fourteen but why didn't she tell me knowing I was getting involved with Carson? She admitted in her letter, she was jealous so why didn't she say something? You know I'd have backed away from him automatically but she didn't give me that choice."
"It seems I was right about her all along" Kaydie replied smugly and I flicked her the middle finger.
"I'm slowly dying inside and you're bragging?" Alexa retorted.
"I'm just trying to make the whole situation a bit more light." Kaydie admitted, "But I have a big question after reading that letter"
Alexa nodded for her to go ahead as she stood up and lifted Isabella from Kaydie's arms.
"You know Taylor grew into the looks she has today. Back then she was a scrawny tomboy with a bob and crooked teeth. Fucking Dora wouldn't have explored her, so why did Carson like her so much?"
Alexa let out a bark of laughter as she listened to Kaydie, "Maybe, he saw the beauty within?"
"What beauty within?"
"You're evil" Alexa chuckled, as she placed Isabella into her cot beside the bed, "but what do you think I should do?"
Kaydie looked thoughtful for a moment, "I think you need to keep your distance from Taylor, and dare I say it; Carson."
"But what about Isabella though?"
"I could be your go between." Kaydie explained, "Or I could get Daniel's help?"
"Dan eh?" Alexa smirked as her friend blushed, "I need to tell Taylor some things though. I know I won't be able to keep my temper though"
"Write her a letter." Kaydie stated, "Hell, write Carson one too. Get all your feelings out there. I can give it to them tomorrow, or whenever you want me to"
Alexa thought about this idea. She could get everything she wanted to say across, without being interrupted or the risk of losing control of her emotions. If Taylor was too much of a coward to speak to her face-to-face why should she have to do it?
"I'll leave you to it," Kaydie suddenly announced stretching her arms as she stood up from her sitting position on the bed, "Night Lex"
"Goodnight" she replied gently as she watched her friend leave her room, closing the door behind her.
Sighing, Alexa stood up and headed towards her desk which was littered with schoolwork and grabbed her notebook and a pen, before jumping back onto her bed. It was a sign that things were bad when instead of talking to her possibly ex best friend of six years, she was writing her a letter; something that wasn't very fashionable these days.
To begin with Alexa struggled with her wording and what exactly she wanted to say to Taylor but as she gradually started writing, it came to her and soon she had written a full page. Signing it off with her name, in an unfamiliar formal manner she read back over it.
