A long and agonizing month had passed since that phone call between Alexa and Carson, and Alexa had not heard from him since. The coward in her was relieved. When he'd finally make contact it would either make or break her and with the ways things had been lately who knew which it would be. Pure fright and cowardice had overcome her when it had hit the two week deadline her and Everly had set that day, and she'd promised herself that next week would be the week to confront him, but yet again another week passed leaving everything in limbo as it had been for the past few months.

In the last month Kaydie had become loved up with Daniel extremely quick after their setup date but as everyone knows, all good things must come to an end and that was exactly what happened. As far as Alexa could understand from the situation, whatever trouble Kaydie had been having at home was supposedly resolved and her parents wanted her to return home again as soon as possible. Alexa had already known there had been an ulterior motive for Kaydie coming down to 'help with the baby' but her theory hadn't been verified until Kaydie finally admitted it, once she'd gotten off the phone to her mom a couple of days ago. She'd been vague though, leaving Alexa even more in the dark than she originally had been but Alexa couldn't help but feel for her friend as she'd watch her say a tearful goodbye to Daniel Jacks the morning of her departure.  Who knows, maybe sometime in the future they'd be brought back together when they'd least expect. Then again they were sixteen/seventeen so it was unlikely they'd remember this 'relationship' in the distant future.

Luckily Everly was on hand to help Alexa with her predicament after Kaydie's departure and Alexa was certain she'd found a true friend in Everly. She'd even spent the night at Everly's and she'd been pleasantly surprised when Everly had insisted that she bring Isabella with her. It was at that moment that Alexa knew she had someone she could depend on; not many sixteen year old girls would be begging their friend to bring their daughter to a sleepover. She remembered coming face-to-face with Everly's older brother Dustin during her stay at her house and feeling shy until he himself had shyly asked if he could see Isabella. Seeing him pulling faces at Isabella had just reinforced the fact that Isabella needed her dad around her one way or another.

Alexa knew that this wasn't the place to be doing what she was about to do but she couldn't wait any longer. Although Carson had actually had to visit her house to collect Isabella on one occasion when Daniel was over wise engaged with Kaydie, it was strictly business between them. It had been almost two months since Alexa had spoken to Taylor but the words from her letter were etched in her mind 'I love him Alexa and I will fight for our past' as she searched the crowded party for the two people who had turned her life upside down. Alexa and Carson would always have a past too and Alexa knew that she couldn't just give up against Taylor; Isabella deserved the chance to have a proper family.

Pushing her way into the crowded kitchen Alexa finally caught sight of Carson standing in the middle of the football players, clad in a tight white button-up and jeans. Alexa took a moment to let her eyes sweep hungrily over his body before she  boldly made her way towards him and came tot a stop right in front of him. Carson though, appeared not to notice her presence as he was talking animatedly to the guy beside him who Alexa recognised as Everly's brother Dustin. Daniel Jacks who was standing a little further away noticed her though and made his way closer to her.

"Have you heard from Kaydie?" he asked curiously and Alexa felt a pang of sympathy for him. He'd fallen surprisingly hard for Kaydie and then she'd had to leave him.

"She rang me last night", Alexa admitted as his face fell, "She misses you Dan, that's why she hasn't made contact. She's scared she'll miss you even more if she hears your voice. You should call her though!"

Daniel nodded curtly but before he could bombard her with any more questions about Kaydie, he was interrupted by the sound of Carson's voice,

"Lexie?"
