We were sitting on the bed together when suddenly Asher grabbed my wrist. He was staring so intensely at me with his deep blue eyes...
"...I thought you were going to help me make memories?" He asked in a low voice as his face moved closer to mine.
"Ow!" I cried out when our heads bumped together.
He snickered at me, "You look so dumb! Startled like a deer caught in the headlights."
"A-Are you teasing me?!" I exclaimed.
"It's cuz you're drunk." He said. "If you were with Quinn or Will right now, they'd try something with you. So you're lucky you're staying in my room." He continued when I stayed silent. "Will has kissed me before when he was drunk."
"What?!" I said in shock. "Well, I guess I have heard of people who kiss everyone when they're drunk..." I looked at him curiously though, "But did he... Was it... on the, um... mouth?"
"No way!" Asher exclaimed looking at me like I was crazy. "On my cheek!"
"...Do you ever want to kiss someone when you're drunk?" I asked hesitantly.
"No." He replied but then looked thoughtful. "Oh, wait. Actually there was one time."
"Really? When?!" I asked really wanting to know.
"Right now." He said quietly.
"Wha...?" I trailed off.
Asher leaned forward and pressed his lips to my forehead. I took a sharp intake of air and froze.
"I was right. You do have a stupid face." He smirked.
"You're so impulsive, Asher!" I said in an upset fashion and mumbled, "...Just like when you kissed me before..."
'Things have felt unresolved since then... Because I want to know what that kiss meant to him, but I just couldn't ask him...'
"Why... Why did you kiss me before?" I asked hesitantly.
"...Dunno." He responded.
"You don't know?!" I exclaimed. "That's so mean!"
Asher sighed and rubbed his face tiredly.
"All the girls I've ever met are terribly strong willed...or stuck up..." He said. "Like that friend of yours."
"...You mean, Lyra?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said. "...So that night...when I saw you sobbing...and looking so vulnerable... Honestly I thought, 'Damn, she's annoying...'"
I sighed knowing I should have expected that.
"'And she's a pain in the ass...'" I added quietly.
"Yeah...But at the same time, I knew I couldn't leave you alone...and I felt like I just couldn't do you wrong." He explained. "That's the first time I've ever felt something like that... I don't get it."
"Then...kiss me again...like you did that night." I requested.
Asher turned red, "Idiot. You can't just kiss someone on demand." He said awkwardly. "You're definitely drunk."
'I don't think I am... But I'm not sure. I had my hopes up though...' I thought looking disappointed.
Asher looked at me quietly for a moment. He scooted over closer to me and planted a little kiss on my temple.
"You'll have to make do with that for now." He said softly and I could hear the smile in his voice.
I sighed but said nothing in return.
