Holy man, my dad was teaching One Direction!
Oh, Emmie was going to love to hear this! I went to email her, but I forgot which box my laptop was in. It had been two days of decorating, me and dad had slept on our matresses in the living room while the paint had dried in our rooms. My room was finally done, I taped my WWF poster on one wall, and hung the piictures of me in Namibia and South Africa on volunteer trips. I then hung all my other posters about inspi(RED) and World Peace and all that. I had all my other stuff that belongs in my room (bed, dresser, that stuff)
It was almost done, I just had one more picture frame to set up, and somewhere deep in my gut I knew which one it was. I had all my friend pictures up, and the ones of me and my dad on animal rescue missions that I had dragged him to, they were all there except one.
I pulled it out of the box, the white wood was fading. It had been nine years since I had gotten it for my birthday. I sighed, I just wanted to throw it at a wall.
It was the family I used to have. The one before my mom left us and took my brother Jamie with her. He was only ten, a year older than me. She left a video that was recorded over my parents wedding video, saying she had done some horrible things and she was leaving for England with Jamie, and that he had wanted to come. Dad didn't leave his room for two days, watching it over and over. It killed him inside, my aunt Maura had to drive me to and from school.
In the picture we were sitting on the couch laughing. Maura had taken the picture at christmas. We were all wearing our lame christmas sweater with 'Rambler' embroidered on the front. Emmie wasn't born, she was still inside Maura's stomach. It was back before mom screwed us up.
I waited for the day when she would show up again, or I would bump into her at a coffee shop or something, like in those cheesy movies but the truth is, in real life, that'll never happen.
I sighed, and put the photo in the drawer of my bedside table, we didn't need to deal with that now, espeacially when dad got the biggest job of his life. I sat on my bed and grabbed my laptop, that I had purposely put on my bed so I wouldn't forget where it was. I opened my laptop and got a blank email ready for aunt Maura.

Hey Aunt Maura! just letting you know that we arrived three days ago and we are officially unpacked! But you better tell Emmie that our new next door neighbours are One Direction, turns out they have a house in LA and are staying here for the summer! Plus, dad's teaching them (minus Louis) Let E know next time she's over, we can go over and say hi.. Hope all's good back home, miss you!
Love,
Meredith :D
I sent it just as my dad walked into the room, a hammer and nails in one hand, some wood in the other.
"Dad... what exactly are you doing?" I raise my eyerbow at him and he just laughs.
"Building you a window seat. Which window?" I smile, he know's I always wanted a window seat. I point to the window that's right across from One Direction's palace, sorry place. It's the only window with room.
"Great." He sits down and begins his work. He used to teach construction along with real stuff back at the highschool he taught at, that man's a genius. I got hungry, so I went downstairs for some food.
I get a veggie pizza from the freezer and stick it in the oven. I went to some local farmers market and some guy was selling homemade, organic, vegan pizzas, like how can you loose with that? I sat at the small island and waited for it too cook when not even twenty minutes after he started, he came downstairs rubbing his hands together.
