That day at the coffee shop, something clicked for me.
Maybe it was the fact that Meredith was turning not only just to look, but act like Sadie every single time I interacted with her. And it was playng with my brain.
The way she just talked to me, the way she pushed me to tell me what was wrong. What was wrong?
The love of my life is dead thanks to me, my new neighbour looks identical to her, and I'm a egotistical train wreck.
That's what's wrong.
Yet yesterday, those twenty seconds before she was pushing me to tell her what was up, we had a civilized conversation. No fighting, no bickering, no hateful glares, Those twenty seconds were the most relaxed I had ever been since Sadie died. I wish it had been longer...
But I broke, I had confessed her resemblance to my ex, but I tried to cover it before everything came out. Meredith had that effect on me. I didn't want to tell her, I don't NEED to tell her. But I'm still puzzled on why after my meltdown, after my vague explanation about her doube, I felt more at peace than when I usually talk about her with people.
What was she doing to me? All she is, is a snooty little activist who looks like Sadie, that's all.
But In my head, I could still hear her softly saying my name.
"Harry."
Wait, that was too manly for Meredith's voice.
"Harry."
What?
"HARRY!" Someone nudged my shoulder. I looked over to see Lou starring at me.
"Yes Lou?" He sighed and facepalmed himself.
"You were daydreaming again." I look past hi to see the other three lads sitting on the same couch, and that I was in front of Missy Mae from some talk show.
"Oh. Sorry, what did you say?" The audience laughed, despite the fact my comment had a strong lack of humor.
"Is there any girl you have a crush on?Any celebrities?" I groaned internally. Come on, don't you have any ORIGINAL questions? I looked over at Louis, and he was giving me a look of pure sympathy. Couldn't he just mind his own business for five minutes?
"No, there isn't. There doesn't ALWAYS have to be a girl in my life. I am perfectly capable of being sing-" Lima nudged me in the ribs. Oh right, live TV. "I mean... No, things are good right now. I'm too busy to look for anyone."
Missy looked confused before moving on to the next question for Zayn about his relationship with Perrie. They got engaged last weekend, and everyone's so happy-go-lucky about it.
That was supposed to be me and Sadie.
The rest of the interview consists of the interviewer asking the typical questions to everyone but me, which I am thankful for. I'm not really up for getting hounded with questions right now, or ever.
Once we're done, we're ushered through an ever growing sea of girls, and I even spotted a boy or two that I waved to curtly, and into a black SUV. Not one of our vehicles, but one of Simon's.
"So where to know lads?" Louis said. Wee had the afternoon off, and they all wanted to do something fun like mini golfing or whale watching or whatever it is they consider "fun".
I was up for a hefty round of drinks and a never ending stream of good looking girls.
"Actually, Simon wants you to all stop by Syco, something about, school?" Paul says the last bit like it's absolutely the most bizarre idea in the world. I thought he knew about the stupid school thing. The car was filled with groans from everyone. Well, everyone except Louis who was laughing.
