"Ughh...What is happening to me?" Yeniya said to herself, her voice echoing in the bathroom walls, her shoes ringing a constant cadence of unrest. She was nervous- in anticipation. That was a feeling she never felt before. In fear... yes, that was something she was used to. Through the years, it had became like a pill she doesn't want to take but was forced to swallow. But expectancy? Giddy in obvious delight?
No, it seemed unfamiliar to her and though the feeling touched a part of her, heated it like fire, she doesn't like how it made her feel. Hope and joy were things she shouldn't feel, not in this lifetime. Not when her curse eat her like cancer, seeping away the life in her. She tried it one time and it burned her- badly.
But here she was, wearing the frilly blue dress that Lumie gave her nervous yet excited while waiting for a certain someone. Someone whom Yeniya should have no business to.
At the back of her mind, something was telling her to leave this place. Whispering to her that danger was everywhere she goes, but she couldn't help the feeling of wanting to know more, more about his world she never knew of. Like a fantasy straight from a book, supernaturals was something that should have stayed a story and not a reality. Not to mention the prince she met a few hours before. Her prince who claimed that she was his mate. The very one who seemed to be immune to her curse.
Yes, that was the biggest mystery she wanted to unravel. The question why was still on her mind but then she remembered the first time they met. Lyon was with a wolf and it also had lived. Too many questions left unanswered. She knew she just couldn't leave yet.
She sighed and opened the bathroom door. Looking around the room, she saw Lumie sitting on the stool beside the bed, an exasperated look evident on the woman's face.
A blush crept Yeniya cheeks. Of course, the woman would be agitated. It was her fifteenth time going to the bathroom.
"Are you about done now?" Lumie said, tapping her right foot on the floor. "Remember what I've told you about being too narcissistic? Yeah, my opinion stays the same."
"Does it always like this?" Yeniya asked, putting a hand on her chest. She could feel the measured yet heavy beating of her heart and it wasn't because of heart problems, but because of something else.
"What is always like this?"
Yeniya had to bit her lip. She wasn't used to telling her emotions upright, so for Lumie to be specific about things made her uncomfortable. Shifting her weight to her other foot, she said, "All this mate thing."
"What about the mate thing?" Lumie asked. Her head was titled sideways, her eyes narrowed as she accessed Yeniya's question.
Yeniya had to stop the urge of pulling her own hair. Clearly Lumie was going around the bushes and she was too embarrassed to answer immediately. "You know," raising her hands to emphasize her point. " About wanting to be with your mate every moment and every time?"
However Lumie didn't reply immediately and merely looked at her dumbfounded as if Yeniya was asking one horrendous joke.
"What?" Yeniya asked, unable to withstand the silence between them.
Lumie merely shrugged and raised one leg above the other as if the gesture would equate for an answer.
"I'll take that as a yes then," Yeniya murmured, grumpily slumping her shoulders. She wasn't keen on how to process the information. Her feelings more so, it felt like this was the moment that all she'd been waiting for. Although she wasn't new to the concept of mates, it was surreal to her. Too magical and far-fetched. It was unbelievable.
