Chapter 13

Sirius' POV

I carried Abbe, bridal style, back to the Gryffindor Common Room. I examined her face and stroked it slightly. She truly was beautiful even if she didn't believe it herself. I had harbored a crush on her a little bit in fourth year but that had soon disappeared when she started liking Remus. Now the crush was coming back. Seeing her so upset made ME upset. I couldn't ask her out to Hogsmeade next weekend. I mean James is probably going to ask Lily and Remus was going with the Slytherin slut herself, Brielle Prince. We could just go as friends, I am sure that she would be okay with it. She snuggled closer to my body. I smiled then scowled. 'Damn! I have to stop doing that.'  She stirred a bit as we grew closer to the common room. She yawned loudly and looked up at me and smiled. "Hello Sirius." She said happily.

I gently set her down on her feet and intertwined my hand in hers. "Good Afternoon,  Sleeping Beauty."  I said smiling. "Hey can I ask you something?"

"Sure." She said smiling. 'Must of had a good dream'. I thought.

"I was wondering maybe if you-uh-you wanted to um-maybe go to Hogsmeade with me next weekend?" I asked stuttering at first and then finishing fast. She stared at me with her mouth wide open. That was too fast. She suddenly smiled widely and nodded quickly. I smiled and hugged her in thanks. We walked back to the common room hand in hand, both of us smiling like idiots. We walked into the room and sat on the couch, not talking to each other at all.

"You did really well in the quidditch game earlier." Abbe commented, probably feeling awkward in the silence.

"Thanks. You did too, even though you didn't catch the snitch. But that's not important." I said smiling. She leaned into my body, seeking warmth and I wrapped my arm around her waist. I heard the portrait open and jumped away from Abbe, like she had burnt me. Thankfully it was not James or Remus who walked into the room. It was the one and only Lily Evans. "Hey Lily." Abbe said awkwardly, fiddling with her hair. She looked so cute when she did that.

"Hi Abbe, Sirius." She said sitting down between us. "What are you guys up to?"

"We are just hanging out. We just got some ice cream." I replied to her.

"Hey--" Abbe started before the portrait opened once again. This time it revealed a beaten and battered James. I could hear Abbe gasp and sniffle again as he fell to the ground.

Abbe's POV

I ran to my brother as soon as he fell down. I dropped down on my knees next to him and turned him so he was lying on his back. I checked for a pulse in his wrist and found one, but it was faint. "Sirius, help me get him on the couch." I said as I struggled to life him up on my own. Sirius quickly came over and lifted his legs as I lifted his upper body. We set him on the couch and I moved to kneel next to him. "Lily, grab you wand and see what you can do for him." I said standing up and grabbing my wand.

"Where are you going?" Sirius asked curiously as I walked towards the door.

"Well, it's dinnertime and I thought now would be a good time to see who did this to him." I said angrily. Sirius smiled as if to say 'That a girl'. He also grabbed his wand and headed towards me. He grabbed my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine. I smiled at him and we burst out of the common room and to the Great Hall. We came up to the Great Hall and stopped right in front of the door. "Ready?" I questioned.

"Right after you milady." He replied smirking. I let go of his hand and walked in front of him. I looked down to see that I was still wearing my quidditch things and so was Sirius. I didn't really care about my appearance I just want to get my point across. I pushed open the heavy doors and stood there frozen, with everyone staring at me. I felt a hand on my lower back, pushing me forward. Knowing it was Sirius, I reached back and grabbed his hand. He came up to my side and we walked to the front of the hall. I whispered to Professor Dumbledore asking if I could address the student body of something. He just nodded and smiled. I thanked him quietly and walked back to Sirius who was standing at the top of the steps leading to the teacher's table. I mumbled a quick charm to make my voice louder and waited for Sirius to do the same.

"EXCUSE ME! EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION!" Sirius said loudly even with the charm already making his voice louder.

"At about 6:30 this evening my brother, the well known James Potter, stumbled into the Gryffindor Common Room. This is normal because he always walks into the common room after every Quidditch. This time it was different. The weird part was not the stumbling. No, the weird part was that he was bruised and bleeding. Sure, after every game he has a couple of scratches and maybe two or three bruises but this time it was more major. This time he walked in with a gash on his right bicep and on his left leg. That's not even the part that worries me the most. Not even one minute after he stumbled in, he passed out. You people may know that James has a high tolerance for pain. He wouldn't just pass out from this. You may be asking yourself 'Why is she telling us this?'. I want to know who is responsible for causing my brother such pain. Please reveal yourself before I get even more pissed off than I already am." I ended in a deathly calm tone. The noise in the Great Hall grew as they began to discuss who the people/person could be.

"We asked you to reveal who did it! Not converse about it!" Sirius said more forcefully than I had. I let go of his hand moved closer to him and he put an arm around my shoulders. The hall quieted down and still no one had revealed themselves. I began to tap my foot and I crossed my arms as I saw my mother do when James and I were in trouble when we were younger.

"HE HAD IT COMING TO HIM!" A voice yelled from the Slytherin table. I shifted my eyes to see who had called out. The person who shouted was someone who I expected to be apart of this. Brielle Prince.

"Thanks! That's all I wanted to know." I said walking down the steps and towards the Gryffindor table where Grey and Remus were sitting. I sat down in between Sirius and Remus and took my hand in Sirius'.

"Listen, Abbe, I am so sorry about what happened. I know we can't go right into going out again but I hope we can make it there again. I have already cancelled going with Brielle once I found out that she had put an Imperius curse on me this morning. I wanted to know if you wanted to go to Hogsmeade with me?" He asked sweetly. I melted at the sight of his eyes, filled with guilt and sorrow. I looked to Sirius and saw disappointment and sadness in his eyes. I looked at him as if asking permission to go with Remus instead. He nodded and I hugged him tightly. He winced a bit at the touch but hugged me back soon after that.

"I'd love to go with you." I replied with a smile. He smiled and kissed my cheek.

 Remus' POV

I sat on the cold stone floor of the dungeons in Malfoy Manor I had been sitting on for awhile. The full moon was next week but I could already feel the effects on my body. I have only been in here for a few hours, or at least I think it was only a few hours, but I can already tell that I am weaker than I should be. I hope that I don't die here. I couldn't have the life I wanted with Abbe. We would have 3 kids. Two boys and a girl. The girl would be beautiful just like her and the boys would look like me and hopefully none of them would have my lycanthrope gene. I would have the perfect life with all my friends and family, I knew better than that. I knew I could never have a perfect life like that. I haven't even said that I was sorry to Abbe. Man, I really regret that. I let out a heart wrenching sob as I thought of her. Gods, I really messed up.
