Chapter 27

"Adam?" I tried not to laugh when I said this.

Austin narrowed his eyes at me while everyone laughed, including Adam. "What?" I asked. "He's my boyfriend after all"

"Is he?" Austin asked with his jaw clenched.

"Yeah, didn't you know that?" I said whilst smiling.

Adam proceeded to move his arm down to my waist- it wasn't the danger zone but it was enough to pull the joke. I saw some dark emotion appear in Austins eyes but he blinked and it disappeared leaving me confused.

"Well I do now" Austin smirked, his smirk wasn't enough to fool me though. I knew that he didn't appreciate the joke like he could of.

"Good" I said. "Cause we plan on going to any race track we can find and racing each other"

"Then we plan on going to the beach and going for a quick swim to cool off" Adam continued.

"Then to finish it off, we're going to come back home and cuddle in bed"

Joel whistled knowing that last part would of struck a nerve and judging from look in Austin's eyes, it definitely did. He knew we were only joking, right? Everyone was silent because Austin was silent, something none of us expected. Adam let me stand up knowing but at the same time not knowing what was going on and patted Austin's shoulder.

"You alright man?"

Austin shook his head not to say no but I figured to clear his thoughts. "As always" He half smiled. He still wasn't himself.

"Come on" I extended my hand out to him which he held on to.

"Yeah" Kyle said. "I think I might go out with whoever's willing to stop being lazy"

A few guys put their hands up but most of them shook their heads and made up an excuse. Although Maddie and Joel did decide they'd go out together on their first date since being together. I let go of Austins hand once we reached the room and started going through my lack of clothes in the wardrobe. When I pulled out an outfit of skinny jeans, a loose tee and a warm cardigan, I walked over to the bathroom.

Austin was sitting on the bed staring at the ground with his back to me, I could feel the emotions surrounding him. He seemed sad, angry, and scared all at once and I didn't know why. I put my clothes on the bench of the basin and stuck my head back out the door. He was still in the same position.

"Come take a shower with me?" I asked.

He responded by turning around and smirking. He acted as if he wasn't sitting there silently thinking 5 seconds prior to me asking. "Sure" He stood up and walked over to kiss my forehead and turn the shower on.

I took his shirt off while he took his pants off and we both stepped in. It was spacious enough for us to stand comfortable and I felt the warm water run from the top of my head to my toes.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Hm?" He said looking at me, or rather, some other part of me.

I brought a hand up to make him look at me in the eyes. "What's wrong Austin"

"Nothing" He said. Then he did the unexpected. He stepped out of the shower and dried himself with a towel. I slowly turned the shower off as he did this following the surprise that his actions brought. He proceeded to get dressed while I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around myself.

"Austin what are you doing?" I asked with worry.

He didn't say anything, he didn't even glance my way. I felt a shot of pain hit my heart because of what he was doing. I hated seeing him sad or pained and I especially hated it when he wouldn't talk to me about what was troubling him. It was evident on his face that he was in pain right now, whether it was physical or emotional or even both, I didn't know.
