Who? Wait.
It sounded an awful lot like that security guard that helped us back at the hospital.
"It's Marvin" Jake sounded relieved. I was too.
"Yeah the last time we were acquainted with people you knew, it cost one us a life" Ben's voice darkened. More emotion burst into the room. Emotion that was expected and needed.
As Jake went to look through the peep hole, Kyle come over and stood behind me to wrap his arms around me protectively. The air got heavier, making it seem like we were low on oxygen. He stepped back at a normal place which was a good sign, right?
"It's Marvin" Jake repeated, "I think he's just with a few others"
"All right, open it" Joel sighed.
Jake turned the door knob and slowly opened the door. He reached behind him and moved his shirt, revealing a gun I should've seen, regardless. I hid a smile he always made sure to have back up.
When the door was opened all the way, I saw the same security guard I saw at the hospital. But of course there were three other actual police officers behind him. I recognised them as the ones Jake had made friends with back in Miami while he was at the station. I guess having a stay at the station has it's perks.
"John, Nathan and Lou?" Jake asked with disbelief.
Most of us were ready to bolt out the back door but once Jake proved that they weren't here to kill us, or worse take us in, we relaxed.
But only the slightest bit.
"Jake" They all said in unison with a nod. What in the world were they doing here?
Joel sighed. "It makes sense now" I looked at him. "Marvin was the one that helped us set up this place, he'd be the only one who knew we were here"
"Yeah but why are the rest of them here?"
"Jake gave Marvin a list of names to call if we needed the extra help" I spoke out loud.
"Like brother like sister" I heard Andre mutter.
"Jesus, I don't have to tell you anything, all you can do is read my mind anyway" Jake laughed as he looked back at me.
"Well aren't you going to invite them in" Gabby asked with a sense of hurry. I'm sure we were all with her, there were a few cops standing outside a house, that would just bring us attention. Although now there were two cop cars outside our house so there'd be no difference.
Marvin, John and Lou all stepped in without hesitation and without a direct question. The door was shut behind them and everyone relaxed even more.
"What are you guys doing here though?" Ben asked.
"You left too soon" Marvin looked at Jake then myself. What was he going on abouot? We left where too soon?
"What?" Jake asked.
"Marvin looked at the officers behind him but I couldn't see his facial expression. I couldn't even imagine what it would look like because I had no idea what was going on. But when he looked back at us I had a feeling the news had something to do with Austin, I just didn't want to get my hopes up.
"Austin's alive" Marvin breathed out.
It took about five seconds for my body and mind to react and it reacted by falling back into Kyle as if someone pushed. Ugh, that would've looked so lame but he said Austin was alive. I mean like I believed in ghosts and spririts but what kind of sick joke was this? I thought Marvin was supposed to be a good guy. What was he doing here giving us bullshit knowing it would affect us all?
