I decide to practice Katana striking with the wood, leaving my room for the first time that, walking past Chizuru and Lalias empty room where they should be getting ready for bed. I can just imagine Lalia giving Chizuru grief as she demands 5 more minutes of play time while Chizuru stands over her, hands on her hips as she acts in the most motherly way possible. Instead, the sheets are carefully folded and tucked in, just like they were never there. I walk to the area, blocks of discarded wood littering where I'm suppose to practice as the night time casts its darkness. I get to work, slicing and killing blocks of inanimate objects that cease to irritate me, silence killing me as I beg to hear anything until his voice echoes infront of me,"Wow, aren't we just fired up today!" I look at the blond demon standing with his hands by his side as he circles the chunks of wood I massacred. "My wife and Daughter, where are they?" My voice strong and firm as I catch my breath from my strenuous exercise. "Oh all this again, I told you they're mine," Chikage smirks as he advances closer to me. "Bite your tongue," I swing my blade, missing his pale throat by a millimetre, cutting a bit of his yellow locks. "My oh my, how can I return my family to such a dangerous environment? No, they are best with me." "I'd be careful, demon, I am not in the best of moods," I snarl as fury aches through my bones. "And I'd be careful, mutt, I do feel particularly happy myself," Chikage sings as he stands very closely to me, faces almost touching.
"You know, Hijikata. I believe that if I keep the girls with me for a while longer, they'll forget about you and the Shinsengumi all together, it'd wouldn't be that hard either. I could create a simple memory potion and you would never have existed to them, Chizuru being my wife and dear Lalia being my daughter." His statement makes my skin crawl as my heart pounds in the rhythm of,"kill him, kill him."
"Also, thanks for taking out those demons, they were a great hassle of mine, constantly trying to warn Chizuru." My heart drops. "What do you mean warn ?" I spit, fear wavering my voice. He moves back, holding a hand to his chin, "Oh, I didn't tell you? Those demons were never after Chizuru or her baby, they were trying to get her to safety and you fell right into my trap, killing them off allowing me to get closer and closer to Chizuru and Lalia. You see, although Amagiri and Kyo are unaware of my plans, I created the only 'demon baby killer' scheme to allow you to back off as I worked my way back into her life and be who I should have been in the first place, her true love." My fists shake as I hear those words, he fooled me. All alone I've been killing demons that were actually trying to help and trusting the one I should have been killing. How could I have been so stupid?
"I best be off, enjoy the blossoms..." His voice trails off as he disappears into the shadows.
I fall to the ground, a sobbing mess as I feel completely helpless...
