Chizuru POV
I stare at the ceiling, gently rubbing my stomach as I listen to the gentle breathing of my little sleeping daughter. Everything was so peaceful until I felt a sharp sting grow across my back and through to my side. I groaned as I sat up, another sharp pain rushing up my back causing me to call out Chikage. He came leisurely in the room, pausing at the door until he noticed my sweaty pale face and my hand gripping onto the headboard of the bed. I hold out a hand for him to take to help my up as I do not want Lalia to see or hear me like this, she is only a three year old choked and thus would frighten her so much, after all Mamas are strong. He aids me into his room where I sit in the end on the bed, rocking myself back and forth as he watches me, clearly feeling helpless in what to do. "C-Chizuru. W-what d-d-do I do?" He sounded like a lost child as he looked at me, crouching infront as I groaned once more, agony seeping through my body. I grab his hand and squeeze it tightly, as I did with Hijikata when this happened one night I was pregnant with Lalia. Her being my first, I was terrified as I thought that it meant there was something wrong. I remember shaking Hijikata violently, he's a heavy sleeper, and looking at him for mercy to help me. I remember him groggily sit up and he didn't say a word, he just wrapped his arms tightly round me, giving me a hand until he said,"Squeeze it as tight as you can." To which, I did.
This is not comforting, Chikages hands don't have the same warmth as Toshizo nor are they as soothing as his. "Chikage please let me go home," I plea as I sit, clutching my side. He suddenly jumps from me and laughs hysterically. "You know why your daughters still sleeping?" I stopped panting. Lalia is like me, a light sleeper and this all should have woken her up no problem. "What have you done?" I shakily stand, using the post of the bed as my main support as I glare at the maniac infront of me. "Dear wife, I have just slipped a little thing into you food and drink for the past few days. Did you not wonder why those fruits looked so exotic?" "What was it Chikage, I'll never forgive you if my bab-," I'm cut off as I begin to feel drowsy, the room becoming blurry as I stare at the blobby blind mess. A distorted Chikage laughs at me as he continues,"I knew that it would cause you pain but darling that will all wear off and, when you awaken, I'll be your husband and father to your children." "Over my dead body," I slur as my body flops to the ground, my consciousness wandering to a deep dark abyss...
