"So Tina," said the lawyer," what exactly happened in the forest that night?"
I couldn't speak. I was trembling too much, I was beginning to scare myself, let alone my surroundings.
"Ms. Daniels you are going to have to answer the question." said the judge.
Damn!
"I really don't know...exactly."
The people in the courtroom began to mumble things among eachother. I sat in the box and played with my hands. My palms were sweaty.
"Oh you don't?" said the lawyer.
"Yeah."
The lawyer looked around the courtroom and continued to interrogate me.
"So you don't remember the victim being held at gunpoint?" he said.
"Excuse me?" I said.
"The victim. He was held at gunpoint wasn't he?"
"I'm sorry but the only victims here is everyone who was in that field EXCEPT Kevin."
"Is that so?"
The courtroom was about to grow into an uproar. I looked at my mom who was sitting behind Bryan in the courtroom. They both looked worried. Ok. Now I was getting really upset. T his asswhole was on Kevin's side! What the hell! How can he defend someone who was a total lunitic and definately had issues? He obviously didn't know the bastard.
"Yes it is." I said.
"Well why is he the one sleeping in a coffin and your sitting right there?"
"I don't know."
"Oh really?"
I started to get teary eyed. T his was too much preasure. And I really didn't want to talk. I was not ready at all. I looked around the room in my blurry vision. I saw strangers, my mom, I even saw Erica. I guess she was there to help her cousin. I looked at Bryan and he wasn't too happy. He had his hand balled in a fist and he was whispering. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't good cause it started to get really involved.
"You know what I think Ms. Daniels?" said the lawyer.
"What?" I responded.
"I think that your hiding something."
"What in the world could I be hiding?"
"You tell me."
I sat there in more and more silence. I am never again going to watch Law and Order or Judge Judy for the rest of my life.
"In the field...it was very dark." I told him,"and...I wa...was he..held at...gunpoint."
The sobs started to come. I couldn't control them. I was so scared, tired, confused, annoyed. You name it and I was going through it.
"OKay. You were held at gunpoint. So how come you weren't the one killed?"
"Easy on the witness Mr. Burns." said the judge sternly.
"Okay." Was all he said.
That bastard. I know Bryan wanted to hop out of his seat at that very moment. I could tell he was furious.
"So what happened next Ms. Daniels?"
"Bryan was defending me. He wouldn't let anything in this world hurt me. Especially a psychopath."
"So did it get violent? Did they fight for the gun?"
"No."
"No. Because the your little boy toy over there says that they did fight over the gun."
