Chapter 25: Can You Keep a Secret?

Kitty's POV

Another Earthquake had started. I screamed and hung onto Daring. I shut my eyes. The earthquake soon stopped. I heard some rocks fall. Daring said, "Kitty, there's a passage." And when I opened my eyes, there was an opening in the side of the wall. A passage. We knelt down and crawled through. "What is this place?" I asked when we reached the end of the tunnel. It seemed to lead to some sort of large underground cellar. "I don't know." Daring said and we walked into the nearest room. There was a bloody table and a few buckets filled with who knows what. Then Daring said, "I hear footsteps, let's hide under that table. And we quickly scurried under the table. I now heard the footsteps come closer. Then I saw boots. Someone grunted like they were carrying a heavy load. My heart was pounding. Then the "load" was set down. I would have screamed if Daring didn't cover my mouth. It was Lizzie's body. My breathing grew faster. Then I saw a pair of hands reach down and open her mouth. Then they cut off her tongue with scissors. I was mortified and sickened. Daring held me back. Then whoever it was tossed Lizzie's tongue into a bucket, which I now saw was filled with countless more tongues. Then they picked up Lizzie and walked back down the hall. After a few seconds I broke from Daring's grip, and I bolted down the hall, screaming for Lizzie. But in a few seconds I passed out and the world turned black.
