Finding Onyx

Chapter 9: The Storm (Part 2)

**Ben's POV**

I set my hand on Onyx's shoulder as the house shook from some more thunder. I wanted to make sure she was okay. She looked at me and gave me a slight nod, letting me know that she was fine. I pulled my hand off her shoulder. I just wanted to grab her hand and tell her that everything would be fine and that she doesn't need to worry, but she would just tell me that something bad will probably happen. We all went into the living room and Jeff turned on the TV. He grabbed the remote and flipped through the channels. Hoodie and Masky were sitting next to each other on one end and Jeff was at the other. So, me and Onyx either had to be squished in the middle or sit on the floor. I decided to be nice and sit on the floor, but Onyx sat next to me. I glanced at her and gave her a smile. She smiled back and we watched some TV. After a few minutes, the power went out and I heard someone scream. I guessed it was Onyx because she jumped and landed on top of me.

"Ouch!" I yelled.

"Oh! Sorry Ben!" Onyx replied.

"It's fine," I told her and she snuggled up next to me. I could feel her shaking from fear and I held her. I kept telling her to take deep breaths and just not think about it. She did as I was telling her, but suddenly I felt her slip out of my grasp and then her screaming.

"Onyx?" I called out, but there was no reply. "Masky? Hoodie? Jeff? You guys still here?"

"Here," Masky replied.

"Yup. Still here," Jeff told me.

"Where's Onyx?" Hoodie asked, sounding concerned. So, Jeff, Masky, Hoodie, and I were still here, yet Onyx was dragged away.

"I'm not sure. I just felt her slip away and at first I thought it was on purpose, until I heard the scream," I told them, and I was starting to get worried.

"HELP!" We heard Onyx scream and everyone jumped up.

"That came from upstairs!" I told everyone and we all bolted upstairs.

"HELP!" We heard her call out again, and I knew where she was.

"She's in Jane's room!" I yelled and we all ran to Jane's room. We burst through the door and Onyx was tied up in a chair, tears streaming down her face. She had a small cut on her cheek and Jane was starting to cut her arm.

"Jane! What are you doing?" Jeff screamed at her.

"I was getting her back. She came into my room. MY room!" Jane answered and finished the cut of a heart on Onyx's arm.

"It's a room! You don't need to hurt her!" I told Jane, defending Onyx.

"Aaaw! Look Onyx! Your little boyfriend is defending you! Isn't that sweet?" Jane mocked. She thrusted her knife at us. "Who's next?"

"Listen Jane. Onyx is sorry for what she did. She didn't know any better," I told her. Jeff inched toward Jane, trying to show that he'll go after her so Masky, Hoodie, and I could help get Onyx free. I gave a small nod to Jeff and he jumped onto Jane. I ran over to Onyx and started untying her. After a few seconds, Masky and Hoodie understood what they needed to do and they helped me get Onyx free. She felt a bit limp and I noticed that she had passed out. After we untied her, her limp body fell on top of Hoodie. I told Hoodie to take her to her room and start treating her wounds, he did as he was told. Masky went with Hoodie and I walked over to Jane. I kicked her knife out of her hand.

"What you did to Onyx, was bad. Don't ever do that to anyone. Ever," I told her and I picked up her knife. I put it in my pocket and told Jeff to come help with Onyx. He slapped Jane one last time and left. We heard Jane do her little crazy laugh as we left, but we didn't care. We walked into Onyx's room and started to help Masky and Hoodie with her wounds. After awhile, she finally woke up. She had no idea what had happened.

"Well, do you remember when you walked into Jane's room?" I asked her and she nodded. "She doesn't like it when people go into her room without her knowing. So, she wanted payback. She stole you when the power went out and she tied you to a chair. You'll have a scar on your cheek and a heart-shaped scar on your forearm because of her, but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine."

"Thanks guys, but after all of that I'd like some sleep. If you guys wouldn't mind, if someone could stay in here or, like, you guys switch? Because I take it that you guys didn't really hurt her...and I don't want her hurting me anymore," Onyx told us and we all looked at each other and nodded.

"We'll take turns making sure you're okay," I told her.

"Thanks guys," She said, giving us all a smile.
