Chapter 12: We've Been Found

**Onyx's POV**

Ben and I had finally gotten far away from the house. I started feeling tired, and let out a big yawn.

"We should probably get some sleep soon. We need to travel a little farther though," Ben told me and I agreed.

"Yeah," I yawned. We slowed down to a walk, and then to a shuffle, and then down to stumbling along the bumpy forest floor. I gave out another big yawn and glanced at Ben. He seemed tired too.

"Should we," I paused to yawn. "Get some sleep now?"

"Yeah," Ben answered. I set down the bag and pulled out my sleeping bag. I laid it down and then pulled out my pillow. I threw it on top of the sleeping bag. I pushed my bag off of the sleeping bag then laid down. I got into my sleeping bag then looked at Ben.

"Are you getting in?" I asked him.

"Oh, um, sure. I wasn't sure if...yeah, um," Ben stuttered.

"Just get in...before I change my mind," I winked at him. Ben climbed into the sleeping bag next to me. We put our backs together and instantly fell asleep.

When I woke up, Ben's arm was around me. I turned myself so I was facing him. He was still asleep, but I didn't want to wake him. Not just yet. I studied his sleeping face.

He's so cute when he's asleep I thought to myself. Ben started waking up, so I waited for him to open his eyes.

"Good morning," Ben yawned, opening his eyes.

"You know, you're really cute when you're asleep," I told him and he blushed.

"Thanks..?" Ben laughed.

"C'mon. Let's eat and get a move on," I told Ben and we started getting up and stretching. I grabbed my bag and opened it up. I pulled out some mini candy bars and nibbled on them. Ben pulled out one mini candy bar and ate it.

"Ready?" He asked and I nodded my head. He rolled up the sleeping bag and stuffed it into the bag. He grabbed the pillow and we started walking deeper into the forest. As we walked, we tried to be as quiet as possible but with all the leaves on the ground, it was kind of hard. We noticed that it seemed to be about noon, and we were starting to get hungry again.

"Let's rest for a bit, and eat some more," Ben suggested and I sat down right away.

"My legs are killing me!" I told him, a slight smile on my face. "And I am getting tired again."

Ben took of the bag and set it down. He pulled out a Reese's peanut butter cup, and I pulled out a mini Hershey's bar. We talked as we munched on the candy, but then we heard a twig snap.

"What was that?" I whispered.

"Not sure, stay low and quiet," Ben told me and I did as he said. Suddenly, we heard voices and I looked at Ben.

"Let's climb into a tree," I told him and he nodded. He grabbed the bag and pillow and started climbing a tree. I climbed into another tree and watched the forest floor.

After a few minutes, two figures stepped into view. I instantly recognized them. It was Bianca and Brandon, my enemy and my former crush. I gasped silently and watched to see what they were doing here.

"Where is she? Don't you know where she's at though?" Bianca whined.

"No. I don't know. That's why we've been following these footprints," Brandon told Bianca, sounding annoyed.

"Well, where do the footprints lead?" Bianca asked.

"Looks like there's two sets of footprints. Both leading to different trees. I'm guessing she's been staying in trees," Brandon said.

"Okay, so which tree is she in?" Bianca asked.

"I don't know. You climb that tree," Brandon pointed at my tree, "and I'll climb this tree." Brandon walked over to Ben's tree and started climbing. Bianca looked up the tree.

"I don't see her," Bianca called out, still looking up the tree.

"You have to actually climb the tree," Brandon told her. Bianca started to climb the tree and I held my breath. As Bianca climbed higher, I got more and more scared.

"I found you!" Bianca screamed and grabbed my foot, probably trying to drag me out of the tree and I screamed. I managed to get her hand off of my foot, and started climbing higher. I heard Brandon scream as Ben fell to the ground with Brandon.

"Ben!" I screamed. I had to get down and fast. From up here, things didn't look good. I climbed over to the other side of the tree and quickly started climbing down the tree.

"BEN!" I screamed again, as I realized that Brandon had a choke hold on him. "Let go of him Brandon!" I punched Brandon in the face, and he lost his grip. Brandon stumbled back, his hand on his face. Bianca came up behind me with a knife and I kicked it out of her hand.

"Now, how would it be fair if you had a weapon and we didn't?" I asked her sweetly.

"Well, you know how to fight and I don't so, that's how it would be fair," Bianca answered and tried to punch me. I caught the punch with ease, and just looked at her.

"Seriously?" I asked her, then twisted her arm behind her back. I held her arm between her shoulder blades and she started crying.

"Stop! Uncle! Quit it! Stop!" She screamed.

"Only if you promise that you'll stop attacking me," I told her.

"Okay! Okay! Now stop it!" Bianca cried and I let go of her arm. I walked over to Ben.

"You okay?" I asked him and he nodded.

"Yeah, I'm fine," He answered, rubbing his neck.

"What the heck is wrong with you guys?" I asked Bianca and Brandon.

"Well, we came to find you," Brandon answered.

"Why?" I asked them.

"I need to tell you something," Brandon told me sheepishly.

"What?" I sighed.

"It's kinda, um, private?" Brandon told me and I shook my head.

"Okay. Fine," I said and we walked away from Ben and Bianca.

"Listen, Onyx I-," Brandon started off

"Let me set something straight though," I cut him off. "I ran away for many reasons, and I didn't want to be found. Somehow, Slenderman found me and brought me to his mansion. I spent time with some of the Creepypastas and then, I decided to run away."

"Okay, I understand that you've been through a lot, but I need to tell you something really important," Brandon said.

"Fine. Just say it," I told him.

"I-I've had a crush on you for a long time...and I think I'm in love with you," Brandon told me.

"W-Well, that's not gonna work out," I replied, stunned.

"Why not?" Brandon asked, sounding upset.

"I'm in love with someone else. I'm in love with Ben. We've been dating for a some time now, so...it just won't work out. You and Bianca need to leave," I told him, getting a bit mad. I walked back to Ben and Bianca and whispered to Ben what had happened.
