Oooh! I left a cliffhanger last chapter! SHOCKER! I don’t normally do that…do I?

Ya,Ya, whatever! Let’s get on with the good stuff hmm?

I STILL WANT YOU TO VOTE! (You will have to because this chapter is so good! I even think so myself! I think it’s my favorite so far! I think ‘Cause Nyra’s personality starts to break through in this one.)

I hit the water hard. My body didn’t have time to straighten out before I hit it, so I went in head first.

The water went in my ears and nose and everything else.

I was paralyzed for a minute, but soon I could move again.

I opened my eyes and it was dark.

Slight light was shining in through the cloudy sky.

Luckily Maria’s sword caught the one of the light beams and glittered for a second under water.

I went up for air and then dived back down again.

The shouting from above still hadn’t stopped.

I pushed with my arms and kicked with my legs, but it seemed that I wasn’t getting to her.

I knew that she was unconscious. If she wasn’t, she would have been swimming to the surface herself.

But a child of her age and size wouldn’t be conscious after a fall like that.

I was losing air.

I swam back up to the surface.

“Nyra!”

I ignored their calls and took another breath.

“Maria!” I called out to the open sea.

I cupped my hands around my lips, “Maria, Please! Answer me! Maria!”

Silence.

The crew knew now why I jumped.

To save their youngest member.

But…now it seemed—my thought were cut off.

A bobbing face.

On the surface.

“Maria…” I whispered and took off under water.

Swimming classes, I bless you.

You help me save a life.

If she’s still alive.

Her body was under water and she limbs hung lifelessly.

I grabbed her and surfaced, taking a giant breath.

“Maria!” I slapped her face.

“Maria! Wake up!”

I placed my ear by her mouth.

She wasn’t breathing.

I kicked my legs to stay a float and placed her on my arm, back to my face.

I took my palm and hit her in the back multiple times, till I heard her start to cough.

When I sounded like all the water was out, I flipped her to my other arm and looked to see the ship heading our way.

I swam back a little and waited for it to get to us.

I placed my ear by her mouth again and heard her slightly wheezing.
