Chapter 15 (Part 1)

“Damn.” I whispered when he pulled away.

“You have a lot to be damming for.” He grinned at me.

“What? Why?” I crossed my arms over my scrunched legs.

He stood up and opened the door, not answering me.

“Why Kain?” I raised my eyebrow at him.

He laughed and looked at me once.

“Because, now you’ll have to answer to Rosaline.” He took off down the hall.

That little…

“Hey!” I struggled to stand up, due to previous events.

“Hey you!”

His laugh sounded down the hall, followed by the closing of the door to the deck.

I almost knocked over the candle trying to follow him.

I quickly blew it out and closed my door behind me.

“Kain!” I ran down the hall and out the door.

“You! I’m going to—“

Everything was quiet, minus the soft swish of the sea against and the creaking of the ship.

Everyone was staring at the world around the ship.

I came out the remaining way and looked around.

We were in a large area of rocks, each one reaching high above the tallest mast.

“Whoa…” Everyone was staring blankly except me.

Some All of the men were hanging over the edge of the railing except Kain who was Leaning over the wheel smiling like a drunk.

“Guys?” I asked, placing my hands on my hips.

Some kind of prank?

I walked over to Pepe quickly, since he was the closest and the one I knew the most.

“Pepe?” I grabbed him by the shoulders and moved him to face me.

“Oh my God…”

His eyes were glazed over and he had some kind of sick smile, he was also mumbling something in Spanish.

I dropped him when he reached for me and looked over the edge.

Then I heard it.

A low melodious hum.

I was confused.

A hum…in the water?

I leaned in closer, the music got louder and so did the voices.

I racked my mind for some kind of explanation.

Water music…Only one answer,

Sirens…
