Valentina's pov

I watch as she reaches for my hand slowly. Hesitant. I shake my head with a chuckle and grab her hand. Her face heats up a little. I chuckle a little before we head downstairs.

"Eat some breakfast before you go out." Tobi says, standing in the kitchen as we walk by.

"Yes sir." I say with the roll of my eyes. We enter the kitchen with our hands intertwine.

"Whatcha cooking?" I ask.

"I've got bacon." He says. I roll my eyes and take a piece, giving it to Raine before taking another piece. Tobi shakes his head at us and Karla scowls at us.

"You two...." She shakes her head.

"Thank you for the food, but we really got to go." I say with a smile. I pull Raine along to the door. She slips on her shoes and I slip on mine. We head outside and the cool air hits us. My body heat repulses the air but I see Raine shiver. I shrug off my leather jacket and put it over her shoulders. A blush creeps onto her cheeks. I shake my head. She puts her arms through the holes and it's too big on her.

"You're so tiny." I say with a chuckle. She glares at me.

"I like being tiny." I kiss her head.

"Come on, then, Tiny, we're almost to the park."

We get to the park and just walk around, talking about anything and everything.

"So, why are you so secretive?" Raine asks.

"I like my secrets to stay mine. I'll obviously have to share them with my mate, much to my displeasure."

"You don't have to."

"But I do, because, the fact of the matter is they're my mate. I can't change it."

"You could resist the pull."

"It'll hurt my wolf and me. I won't do that to Scarlett. She's waited too long for a mate."

"Yeah. That's true."

"When's your birthday?"

"Um, next week, why?"

"What day?"

"Sunday."

"I'm planning something for your birthday." She rolls her eyes at me.

"I shouldn't have told you."

"I'm glad you did."

"Come on, princess, let's get home." I roll my eyes.

"Do not carry me." She says when I go to pick her up. I laugh.

"Come on." She shakes her head 'no' at me. "Fine." I say with a pout. She laughs. She grabs my hand which satisfies me. We start the walk back to the house. Our hands swing together in the middle. I open the door to the house for her. We walk in together.

"Princess!" Hunter yells when he spots me. He races over, checking me.

"Whoa! Calm down. What's happen?"

"A rogue attack. They know you're here, Princess. They know you're unguarded a lot."

"I'll be fine." I say but I glance at Raine. "You won't be." I mumble softly. I let go of her hand and pace around the living room. I run my hand through my white hair.

"What do you mean, Val?"

"God, how could I be so stupid?"

"Val."
