Not What You Expect

Chapter Four

Valentina's pov

"Welcome to our home!" Alpha Jackson says.

"Thanks for having me." He hugs me.

"It's not a problem." I follow behind him as he walks towards the door. I throw a sideways glance towards the gang.

"You've met my son, Dalton." He says, gesturing towards the soon-to-be alpha.

"Hi. Yes. Hello Dalton. Nice to see you again." He nods towards me. Our eyes connect for a minute but nothing happens.

"You too."

"Val!" I heard a familiar voice. I turn towards the voice and see Tobi walking over.

"Hey Tobi!" We hug but nothing happens.

"Guess none of you are my mates." I say with a shrug.

"You could still stay."

"I'll be staying for a month." I state simply. Maybe I could at least get to know this pack.

"Welcome Princess." Lincoln says with a smile. I nod towards him.

"Lincoln, do you have a spare room?"

"I don't know. I think Tobi and Raine can pile up." My head snaps to him with that name.

Raine? Who's Raine?

"Thank you! Our children won't be able to stand each other if they pile up."

"I could just find a hotel."

"No dear. You're welcome to stay with us. My wife is very caring."

"But what about my guards?"

"We have a spare bedroom." I nod towards him.

"Thank you. Both." Tobi walks over and throws his arm around me.

"So how's the princess?"

"Pretty shitty. Dad is working on an arranged marriage. I have to find my mate."

"Well. Sounds bad."

"Yeah." I think back. "Who's Raine?"

"A wonderful person. She's kind and beautiful." He says it with so much love.

"Is she your mate?"

"No! She's like a sister to me. We don't know her mate yet. She's only 15." I nod.

"That's good."

"She's shy at first. So be careful." I shrug.

"I don't really push people."

"You have more tattoos."

"You have no idea." I smirk. I'm wearing a white tank top with a black leather jacket over it. I'm wearing black skinny jeans and my black high heel boots. He sees my collarbone tattoos. Which just says "With Pain Comes Strength" across my collarbones. I have a wing over my right shoulder and a wolf over my left shoulder. I have a sexy flowery tattoo over my left hip bone. I have one foot tattoo and that's all I have now.

"Last time I saw you, you just had one on your foot." I stop him and glance around before lifting up my tank top to show him the sexy one.

"How far does it go down?" He asks.

"That's a very guy thing to say. It stops around mid-thigh." I shrug.

"Do you have more?" I shrug off my jacket and show him my back ones.

"That's it for now."

"For now." He quotes. I send him a wink. I also have a nose piercing and a belly button piercing. I also have my right hipbone pierced.

"God, your mate is going to be lucky." I roll my eyes.

"Not really. He's going to have his work cut out for him."

"Why do you say him?"

"Because my dad is a homophobe and a sexist."

"How?"

"Girls can't rule. That's why I have to find a mate. A male mate."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

We head to his house and drop my stuff off in the room he told me. It's a little girly. Not much. But I can tell it's Raine's room. I hope she doesn't mind. I really don't want to invade on her space.

"She's here?" I heard a hush female voice.

"Yes. Her and her guards." Lincoln says.

"Is she your mate?" She says really excitedly.

"No. Just a really good friend."

The door was suddenly opened.

"Hello! Welcome! I'm Karla! Welcome to our homes!" She hugs me. I hug her back.

"It's nice to meet you." Last time I was here, I only talked to the Alpha, the beta, and their eldest. To see if they can take on the role. I went to every pack with my father.

"It's great to meet you!" She kisses my cheek. "I'll fix you a lovely lunch. Oh, and Tobi?" Tobi comes walking in.

"Mom, please get off of her."

"It's fine. Really." I say with a smile. My heart tightens because I didn't have my mother or motherly love or care. Since my mother died when i was 7. I had maids but they had no love towards me. They were scared of my father. My father was always busy so I never really experienced the 'family life'.

"Anyway, Raine is still out. Can you go find her?"

"Alright. I'll go find the tiny."

"And take Valentina with you." She smiles at me before disappearing.

"Well, okay then." I say with a shrug.

"It's cool. You'll love Raine. She's really amazing."

"Gosh. I get it. I'll meet her."

"I'm telling you. She's amazing." I shake my head.

"Go find her. I need to stay here."

"True. I'll tell Mom. Bye!" He races out the door. I shake my head as I sit on the edge of the bed. I unzip my boots and pull them off. I grab a crop-top and jogging pants. I take off my jacket and tank top to reveal my black bra. I pull over the crop-top. I push down my jeans. Showing my tattoo and panties. I slip on the jogging pants. I head downstairs where Karla hands me a sandwich with some chips on the side. I smile gratefully at her. I spot my friends in the living room snacking on some sandwiches.

"Thank you." I say with a smile. She smiles back.

"It's no trouble, really."

"Still. Thank you." I walk to the living after she hands me a soda. I sit beside Kiely. Ben and Hunter were getting ready now. They are the guard dogs. Kiely is to keep me company. Well. Ben is too. But he's guard dog.

I look at the TV. I become completely uninterested. I pull out my phone. Nothing.

Ugh, I'm bored.
