Not What You Expect

Chapter Seventeen

Sunlight enters Raine's room, and inches its way up the side of her bed til it reaches her. The sun warms up the covers causing Raine to wake.

Raine's POV

Waking up with heat filtering through my blanket, I sigh. Slowly stretching out I yawn, reaching over to where val is usually I feel she is gone. Grabbing her pillow and clenching it to my chest I take in her scent 'lavender'. I release it and sit up rubbing my eyes.

The bathroom door is open, but she's not in there. Only other places she could have gone in the house is the kitchen and living room, Lincoln and Karla's room is off limits and Tobi isn't letting any girls in his room except his hope to be found mate. So I scratch my head and slide off the edge of the bed.

The carpet against my toes tickles. Pressing my foot onto the carpet, parts of it go in between my toes. Standing up I check to make sure the door is closed and strip off my shirt. My bra holding little of what I have, I shake my head in disappointment.

'I hope my mate doesn't mind my small chest, maybe it'll grow bigger before my birthday in three days. I can wish.' My ribs are hidden under a layer of some fat. Not a lot, since I've shifted more than I usually do, and after that run and leap a few days ago my body is working out its quirks.

My tummy is flat, not defined yet, but flat to say the least. Looking at my arms the scars are gone thanks to the quick healing gene, but I know in wolf form my fur shows where I've been injured..

Many places, because of my past, I did to my self, but there's a spot on my back where it looks like someone hand clawed into my back. I honestly believe that's what that man did to me that horrific night.

I haven't noticed any other spots on my body where it has in-dured life threatening wounds. Those kind don't leave my human or wolf form.

Wanting a change in clothing style I look through my special pile of clothes, and careful of my choice I  grab a pair of black skin tight jeans and a loose scarlet shirt that showed off my shoulders. Wearing under that is my scarlet bra and one of my favorite undies that are scarlet as well. I take out my brush and pull all my hair into one hand slowly brushing nots and tangles out till its nice and soft.

Putting away the brush I separate my hair evenly and then fix my hair to where my hair covered my right eye sort of.

Looking over my choice of clothes I turn to the side and smile when I see that the pants make my butt look nice and plump unlike my chest, but what I don't have up top, certainly have the junk to fit in the trunk.

Opening my door I come face to face with Tobi. Well my face to the lowerish part of his chest. He looks down at me and he steps back in shock. "You... You look..." I shake my head at his weirdness "okay, well thanks, I guess. Don't know what your trying to say, but I hope its nice"  walking past him I take in a whiff of air and frown.

"Val's gone?"

Turning to face Tobi which is no longer behind me, i wait a few minutes and he comes out of his room dressed.

"Yeah she had to go do something, don't worry Kiley, hunter, and Ben are with her."

Sighing knowing she's safe I look Tobi over, I can smell after shave and a new Cologne?.

"So who's the lucky one?" Tobi looks at me and his face blushes a bright red.

"Nobody. Don't worry about it." Is all he has to say. I glare at him " we made an agreement if we found our mates we would tell each other right away." I pout looking down "unless it was a lie."

He comes closer grabbing my chin and forcing me to look into his eyes "it wasn't a lie. And I met my mate.. He..." My eyes widen as I step back "what the hell?" He looks at me shocked "what!?" I bite my lip "your mates a man? The same sex as you..." Feeling a little excited I keep myself from bouncing around.

He looks at me then away "yes... My mates a he...." Not able to hold it back anymore I clap my hands excitedly and coo at Tobi "so what's this lucky mans name." I wriggle my brow suggestively, he shakes his head and grins  "his name is Clayton." I nod in approval , sounds like a keeper.

We talk about his mate and he told me he's taller and buffer than he is which means the possibility that he's a beta or alpha.

'I wonder what he is' feeling tobi poking my cheek I noticed I spaced out in thought. "So let's go see him?" He looks away sad, looking at him confused I wait for a response.

"He isn't openly gay, he doesn't know if he wants to be my mate, yet."

I scowl at the table "isn't it impossible to ignore the mate bond once you meet your mate?"

He looks at his hands and twiddles his thumbs "well, there's rejecting as a possibility..."

My eyes widen "He wouldn't, would he?"

He nods "if he really thinks were not meant to be then... He could...." I see his eyes swell "then don't let him fight for your man." Poking him till he smiles a look of determination on his face now and as he says "I will." I clap my hands excitedly and hear the door to the house open.

Looking toward the door I see a sad val, Kiley, Hunter, and Ben walk in. I look towards tobi, but he's already shooting out the door to do whatever he's got to do.

"Hey val," looking at her confused as she looks over my outfit "like what your looking at." I wink her way as Kiley starts laughing, boys left to the kitchen.

Val opens her mouth in defense, but I cut her off as I quickly approach her and wrap my arms around her waist. "So how did your day go?"
