Henry's POV
"Hi Grandma! Debbie and I were wondering if you and Grandpa could come over to my house as soon as possible."
Sarah talks into the phone, sounding happy and cheerful even though she really isn't, at least I hope she's not given the current situation."Why? Well Mom and Dad and Auntie Cathy are missing and we can't find them. They aren't answering their phones either." Sarah pauses and listens. "Why do you have to talk to Debbie? Am I not good enough?" More listening in Sarah's end. "Why can't I know? Is it because I don't know the big family secret? News flash! You all have powers!" Sarah exclaims sarcastically, her tone change is almost night and day, and definitely instantaneous.
"Oh, okay, bye." She has to quickly say afterwards."What was that?" Debbie asks.
"Let's just say my sass got their attention and they'll be over in within the hour." Her cousin replies eagerly, her tone and attitude having changed again.~46 minutes later~
Sarah's POVI open the door for my favourite grandparents. (I actually don't have favourites but I can't tell them that.)
"Sarah! We need to talk! I think your mother was crazy for telling you that we have powers! You must not be feeling well if you believed her." My grandmother says to me, not waiting for anything. She barges right past me into the main hall, my grandfather is right behind her. "Well actually she never said you had...." I trail off since she clearly isn't listening. She turns to Debbie; "And for you to lead your cousin on! Shame on you Debbie!" She exclaims. Even though she's attempting to cover up the truth, keeping it from me, lying to me, (by insulting Debbie, no less), I still know I'm her favourite granddaughter. I just know.
Debbie and I look at each other and roll our eyes. We can't tell what's worse, the fact my grandparents aren't accepting of me without powers, or the fact they're acting stupid trying to cover up the truth.
My grandfather turns to look suspiciously at Henry and Charlotte.
"And who might these two young friends be?" He asks cautiously.
"Our friends Henry and Charlotte from school. They work with Captain Man." I add the last part in a vague tone, as if it's no big deal.
"I think your friends are lying to you, making them bad friends, sweetie." My grandma says to me, eyeing my friends, seizing them up. I don't think she's trying to cover up the truth this time, I'm pretty sure she just doesn't believe me. I had never though of my grandparents as idiots but they sure were acting like a pair of them right now."Believe what you want I guess." I frown, trying to guilt my grandparents into believing me, but they ignore my attempts.
"Okay so we can find our parents please?" Debbie asks.
"And Ray." Henry adds.
"Right, and Ray." Debbie corrects herself."I'm sure your parents are fine." My grandpa soothes. "And who's Ray?" He asks.
"Captain Man." I explain. "Lord X and The Toddler teamed up and have concocted some plan to start with Swellview and then rid the whole world of superheroes. But all the superheroes we knew were captured so we called you, since I'm sure they got their powers from somewhere." I smile at them sweetly. My grandparents' mouths fall open. They clearly don't know what to make of this.
"Sarah, wherever did you pick up those ideas to concoct such a terrible joke?" My grandmother exclaims.
"Your parents are fine!" My grandpa adds indignantly."Grandma, Grandpa," I look them both in the eyes, in turn. "I love you very much, but I need to get sassy." I pause, "Stop trying to hide the truth from me, it came out a long time ago and we're running out of time to save our parents."
