**Karen's P.O.V** The next morning.
I force my eyes open and the first thing I see is Charles. His face was towards me and his arm draped over me. He looks so serious and concentrated in his sleep; a frown on his face. The covers is over our body's and I can feel the heat coming from his body.
Slowly, I rise the bed and look around the room. I suck in a breath and stare in awe.
Roses decorated the dresser and walls of the room. A white teddy bear sat on the end of the dresser holding it's own small rose. I look over at the window seal and more flowers sat in different color vases.
I look down at him and our eyes meet.
They look...................... sorry.
Guilty.
I get out of the bed and leave the room into the bathroom. Tears sting my eyes and I blink them away. I don't know what to feel right now.
I love Charles.
And he knows that I do. We go through the same Shit over and over again.
We argue, he gets angry, I get angry, then one of us storms out.
But when has he ever put his hands on you?
I grab my toothbrush and toothpaste; the same question playing over and over again in my head.
Me and Amika meet up at Mc Donald's and order the Same thing: Two chicken sandwiches, large fries, and a medium sized coke.
She been talking non stop about her and Xavier little "adventure" yesterday and I pretend to listen to her.
"Are you even listening?" She asks, throwing a French-fry at me.
"Yeah......"
She stares at me for a long second. "Why am I getting the feeling that something happened and your not telling me?"
"Because something did happen and I don't wanna speak on it," I said, picking at my Burger. "I don't know how to handle the situation."
"Tell Daddy Mika what's wrong," she coos.
I roll my eyes and start to go over what happened yesterday and this morning. Her face went from "Oh Shit" to "This nigga....." to "OH HELL NO!" then "Damn...."
When I'm done, I stuff my face with fries and wait for her response. She takes her burger and start stuffing hers too. We chew in silence.
"I ran into him at the program when Xavier took me." She takes a long sip of her soda before continuing. "I texted you and told you."
"I know. I didn't want to start another argument with him. If I bought it up that's exactly what would have happened."
"How are you starting a argument if your just curious about his whereabouts?"
I don't answer and she continues to eat.
"Ya know," she starts. "I'm your B.F.F.T.L.E.W.E, and imma keep it 100 with you. I liked it better when you were single."
"What the hell does that supposed to mean?" I ask. She doesn't say anything and I look away from her. "I love Charles and I know that he loves me. This morning when I looked at him, I saw the same eyes I saw when we first met." I look at her and she stares down at her sandwich. I clear my throat. "Charles is taking me out to this restaurant. Can you come?"
She snorts. "If I come, imma say a few words to his ass and-"
"And Xavier?"
Her head snaps up and looks at me. I wriggle my eye brows and her face blush red.
"Xavier hates Charles too," she says. "You should have seen the way he looked at him."
"Trust me," I said. "I know. They've been at each others neck since High School. If it's not academically then it's in sports."
"So what I'm hearing is, you want a full on fight between them two in a restaurant?" She asks. "Cuz if he hurts my baby, that's both y'all asses."
I laugh. "What ever. But no. I wanted you to like..... come a long but not be with us. Ya know?"
She stares at me blankly and I sigh.
"We'll talk about it later. He's planning on taking me tonight so maybe we can go to Xavier's house and-"
"NO!!" She yells. Everyone looks at our table. Amika leans in and I do the same. "We're not going over there!" She whispers.
"Why?"
"Because we're not! I don't even know where he lives so.....!"
She drinks her soda with pride and I smile.
"258 harden street."
Soda shoots from her mouth and her nose. I roar with laughter as she stands up coughing. She grabs a paper towel and rushes to the bathroom.
I finish off my sandwich and fries before reaching over and taking hers.
She won't mind
