We're driving down the high way and I clutch the gummy bears tightly against my chest. He had gave me his sweat jacket to put on and it goes down to my thighs. The heat is on and it's almost making me regret putting this jacket on.
Almost
We turn off the high way and he takes a sharp turn onto a narrow road. I'm surprised that we weren't stuck in any traffic considering the fact almost everyone works at night. But I guess we're the lucky ones.
These gummy bears are teasing me and my stomach silently growls.
"We're almost there," he says breaking the silence.
"Why do you live so far away?" I ask taking my mind off of these small, colorful, goodness in my lap.
"I don't. My parents own a house down here and I go there here and there. Their saving it for me when I get out of college but I already put half of my things in there. I was planning on moving in right now."
"And you actually think you can drive to school on time?"
He's crazy
He shrugs. "I would have to leave a little early and hope there wouldn't be that bad of traffic but I think I could make it." He glances at me with his "I got this" smirk before looking back at the road.
"How big is this place?" I ask. "It has to be bigger than mine.
He shrugs again. "Just a little bit bigger. Which is why I thought you should have been in a better place than what your in now."
"Yeah..." I said running my hands over the bag. "My mom wasn't able to pay for a mansion while I'm in college if that's what your getting at."
"I didn't mean to-"
"I know," I cut him off. "You didn't mean to make me feel like Shit."
He doesnt say anything and I fight back the tears. His hand lays down on my lap and he squeezes.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I never learned when to shut the hell up when I was younger."
I snicker. "A young Xavier..." I laugh. "I can only imagine."
He laughs. "What does that supposed to mean?"
I shrug and silence fills the car for the rest of the ride there; his hand permanently on my Lap.
We pull up in front of a black gate and he types a code in the keypad. I stare in aw at the house just ahead of us.
The gate slowly opens and he drives down the path. A small water fountain sits in front of the house, and lights surround it making it look beautiful and pure. The grass around the house looks perfectly trimmed and flowers bloom out here and there.
You got to be kidding me.
I look at him and the way he dresses compared to this house. He dress like any ordinary college student with his Adidas sweat pants and white T-shirt. I would expect him in a black and white suite with a wine glass in his hand. But that's just me. I don't know what him or his parents are like.
His parents.
"Your-"
"They don't come here," He answers before I can ask the question. "They moved to Miami and told me about this place."
I sigh in relief. I am not properly dressed for meeting anyone.
He Parks the car on the side of the house and turns the engine off. "Ready?"
