**Karen's P.O.V**
I take my seat in the front row..... Alone. I'm a little fidgety but I slid my hands between my legs. Everyone watches as the mayor approaches the mic and I zone in and out of his long speech.
Why would he want to kill him? What did he ever do to him?
Austin would never do something like that and I almost feel guilty for thinking he would. Its just not him. If he has a problem with someone, violence would be the last thing on his mind.
But do I really know Austin? I've been with Charles for over two years and apparently I didn't know him well enough.
I look to my right and I spot Charles and his hoe. Her head rests on his shoulder and her arm is locked with his. Charles stared straight ahead at the mayor and I turn back and do the same.
"Now," the mayor says, clapping his hand together. "Please join me in welcoming Sir Bowman to the stage."
We all stand and clap our hands together; looking to see which way he would be walking in from.
After a few seconds, everyone stops but he is no where in sight. One of the security guards whispers something in the mayors ear and he frowns before turning his attention to us.
"Apparently Sir Bowman would not be attending this ceremony."
Everyone starts to talk all at once and I start to worry. Grabbing my phone, I dial Austins number and press the phone to my ear.
Pick up, pick up, pick up.......
I look around the crowd for his face but I don't see him no where in sight. Turning back to my right, I nearly drop my phone at what I do see.
A figure stands in the back with a black hoodie on and I watch as he turn his attention towards the stand.
I follow his line of sight to the mayor."Alright alright!" The mayor says. "Now, that doesn't mean we shouldn't continue on." Everyone smiles and cheers, once again taking their seats. "Let the ceremony begin!!"
I look back towards my right to find him gone. My eyes search around but no one in the crowd is wearing a black hoodie.
Am I seeing things?
"Hey."
I jump at the voice in my ear and spin around. Austin holds his hands up as if surrendering and he smiles. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." I stare at him and he plants a kiss on my lips. "What did I miss?"
"I don't know...." I answered still staring.
He furrows his eye brows in confusion but doesn't say anything else. He turns his attention to a guy walking towards us and he starts to make small talk.
Very small talk.......
********** Later that night**********
**Xavier's P.O.V**
I stare at my table, thinking.
Who the hell doesn't show up to their own ceremony? This shit was his idea.
The ceremony was a waist of time. I had better shit to do than sit out there in the cold talking to people I didn't know. That I didn't WANT to know. I can feel a cold coming along as I start to sneeze.
"God bless you."
I turn around in my chair and look at Amika. She leans against the kitchen door frame; her tight jeans showing off her perfect shape.
"How do you go from hating me to blessing me?" I ask half sarcastic and half serious.
She shrugs. "I don't know." I stare at her for a second before turning back around. "I missed you."
I smile at how long it took her to admit that and turn my chair around to face her. "Come here," I said holding my arms out. She gives me a cute little pout and slowly walks towards me. Taking her hand I sit her down on my lap. I kiss her on her cheek then her neck. "Did I ever tell you how hard you make me?" I whisper in her ear.
She ducks her head and starts to blush. I continue to kiss her along her neck and she gives me a satisfied moan.
The sound of my phone ringing brings me to a stop and Amika starts to pout again. I dig inside my pocket for the phone and pull it out; revealing Austin's name.
This better be good.
But before I can answer, it stops. I stare in complete silence and place my phone on the table.
What the hell??
"What happened?" Amika asks and all I do is shrug.
"Guess it wasn't that important," I said and turn my attention back to my baby girl. "Now.... Where were we?"
She bites her lips and takes my hand, leading me out the kitchen.
