Sair:
We took a cab home, me and Dawn. It was the only money I had left in my wallet, and now I was using it on transport. Dawn was blabbering on about her meal with four fifths of One Direction. About Harry handing her her coat, about me and Niall, about how I was the worst and the best friend in the world. She couldn't seem to stop, or make up her mind at all. I sat still, staring out the window. It was going to rain, I just knew it.
"You have so much to explain", Dawn finally sighed. There was no use, we were outside her house already and the car came to a stop. I turned to her, smiling because she didn't realize how I was never going to explain anything. I couldn't.
"You're home", I chuckled. Dawn sighed again, unbuckling her seatbelt.
"This isn't over", she warned me.
"I know", I said. I had a full day of studying in front of me I knew this wasn't over, and so much more was to come. I had to take one step at a time.
"But I'm not mad at you anymore", she said, and climbed out at the cab.
"That's good". Dawn smiled at me.
"I'll see you at school tomorrow". I nodded, and she was about to close the door when I called her name.
"Dawn?". She peeked back into the cab. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about me and...", I stopped right there. What was it with me and telling lies? I couldn't even finish them before I chocked. Dawn was in total bliss of meeting her favorite band, and therefore, she just smiled again. She was in that sort of mood where you understand anything. Her mind was far away, having dinner with Harry Styles or Liam Payne, or someone else. She smiled at me, and closed the door. That's when it started pouring down, all the way until I got home. I payed the driver and ran up the driveway with my coat over my head. Once I got in the door, Cassidy waited for me.
"You're in so much trouble", she grinned. My younger sister loved getting me in trouble. Almost as much as I loved getting her into trouble. But this time, I'd gotten into it by myself just fine.
"What for?", I mumbled, and hung up my coat. Cassidy laughed, walking off into the corridor.
"Have you seen the paper today?!", she called before trotting up the stairs. I sighed, and went on into the kitchen. Mum and dad were waiting of course. And there it was, the photo of me and Niall plastered nicely on the front page. I couldn't believe I was doing this. Too late to change my mind now. Dad crossed his arms over his chest and nodded towards the empty chair, wanting me to sit. I remained standing.
"Where have you been?", mum asked me, of course trying the deeper parental voice. It didn't suit her. She's not the type of parent that would ever suit being strict.
"It's a long story", I sighed.
"What's this?", dad asked. That tone of voice suited him a lot better, the dark and strict one, but it didn't scare me. He nodded to the paper.
"It's the news", I mumbled, filling up a cup of coffee from the can on the counter.
"Don't play smart with me young lady", he warned me. "Who's this boy?!", he pointed a finger to Niall in the picture.
"You know who he is dad", I sighed, rolling my eyes. The coffee melted away some of the feeling from the icy spring rain, and the chilly morning I'd gone through for the past hours. I can't tell you how good it felt. "He's that irish one, from the band".
"It says here that you're his girlfriend", mum said, and she was a lot softer now, almost curious.
"Well...", I put the cup down, leaning towards the counter. This was it. This was the only way. The easiest way, and it was after all Niall Horan's own idea. He would get me into Darwin for this. All I had to do was lie.
