Now what to do? Instead of coming home after the day in Aoyama, Light Yagami sat by himself in the back of a local café. The booth seemed large with only one person sitting there instead of four, but it didn't matter.
In fact this was the same café he had sat in with L when they had first discussed the Kira case. Not all that long ago, really. The same plants used to decorate the booths were there. Upon closer inspection, one could see that they were fake plants so of course they were the same.
Either way...Light Yagami now knew who the second Kira was but... They could be useful to me. I can't kill them just yet.
Although, Light could control them for up to 23 days... He could get the second Kira to leave him an anonymous letter (in an anonymous location, obviously. His mother and Sayu didn't need to get into a letter with information regarding Shinigami and Death Notes. Not to mention his father... That was something he didn't need to see....) Light could get the second Kira to share any information he had not yet acquired. But then again....
What if I could pin Kira solely on them? But Ryuzaki already suspected that there were 2 Kiras. It would be incredibly difficult to convince the detective otherwise. You're too damn stubborn, Ryuzaki.
There was a quiet thump noise from across the booth that made Light look up. Sitting across from him in the booth now was Ryuzaki. Sitting in his normal position in the booth, the detective had bought and brought over a bubble tea, purchased from the front of the café to drink. The cup was now on the table between them. The drink hadn't originated in Japan, but it was a fairly common drink in most of Asia.
"Ryuzaki," The young college student said as the man across from him examined his light pink beverage. "How did you know that I would be here?"
"You may find this difficult to believe," Said the rather unkempt-looking detective, responding instantaneously. "But you and I are quite similar. We think and act in similar ways... Mostly. Though there are subtle differences...." He paused, glancing around. He supposed, perhaps, it was enough already. He was getting off topic. "Anyways, you're predictable. I know where you want to go to think. It made sense you would want to be in this café. Is it not one of your favourites?" There was a pause. Something in the detective's face changed. "This is where you brought me before to talk...." The man looked down at denim clad jeans. He became silent.
"Light-kun, how did the investigating go today? Find anything interesting?" Ryuzaki brought the green straw in the cup up to his lips after speaking. He slurped the tea rather contentedly but contorted his face when he sucked up a bubble. He squinted his large eyes and awkwardly chewed.
This was unexpected.... Light thought as he watched the detective try this new drink. But this could work.
"Actually, Ryuzaki, I didn't share this with Matsuda-San, or anyone else on task force, actually...But I did some research." L raised his eyes from his beverage to the young man sitting across from him. "Is that so?"
"Well, I found out about a café in Aoyama called the Note Blue... They were having a small performance there today and I found that ironic. Note Blue as in notebook, like mentioned in the diary, and on the same day."
It seemed that the detective himself had not yet discovered this so he simply nodded his head slightly, saying, "Good work, Light-kun. But did you find anything special there?"
Light chewed on his lower lip momentarily, though it didn't really look as though he was hesitating, which he was.
"Well, no. Honestly, I stayed away from that area... But I was thinking we could look at the recordings from the security cameras in that area and check for any suspicious behaviour. And of course, not for all the people in the vicinity that day, but for the more suspicious few, we could investigate them."
Light-kun... Without any evidence, you come up with a suggestion like that? How is it that you're so sure? Perhaps you know something that you aren't telling me. The detective brushed off the idea. Of course that could be the case, but L knew he couldn't think clearly if he was biased against Light Yagami, and kept assuming that he was Kira and was withholding information from him. Again, it gave Ryuzaki that odd feeling in his stomach. The feeling that Light was Kira. A feeling that had kept strengthening since the case had started. To distract himself, he picked up his bubble tea again to resume drinking. Surely sweets would help to clear his mind.
Still, the detective agreed to the idea to study these tapes from Note Blue. After the two left the café together, which wasn't long after (as soon as Ryuzaki finished his bubble tea), they went back to Aoyama... to the Note Blue, where they had no problem collecting the security tapes to examine. From there, they would take the tapes back to headquarters to examine.

The detective's gray eyes kept skimming over the man sitting next to him. While L had developed a habit of watching Light, being able to tell if he was deep in thought, possibly worried, he had started doing this for another reason. Lights eyes were so intricately beautiful... L would never be able to admit that was part of the reason he looked at Light so much. Not to Light, or anyone else, including himself.
But still.... Those wonderful sparkling dark eyes, shining with ambition and hope. Shining like mysterious unknown gemstones in the light of the moon.... L looked back at the screen in front of the two of them. He had been chewing his thumbnail, but now dropped his hand on top of his knees, right next to the other hand.
"Is her mouth moving?" Ryuzaki asked suddenly, after fixating his gaze back into the screen. He was of course, talking about a girl with short, dark hair sitting alone at a table.
"Huh?" Of course, Light already knew that was the girl. But wouldn't it be odd to be suspicious of her without any evidence? So he refrained from saying anything regarding her. Obviously.
"Oh! You're right!" Light said, pretending to be shocked by this. She must be speaking to her Shinigami.
Fingers on a remote, Ryuzaki zoomed in on the girl's mouth. He had developed a bit of a talent for reading lips, though he wasn't perfect. "She's asking a question... That much is obvious.... I can't tell exactly what it is, but we can try to find this woman and investigate her. We'll check for any other suspicious activities from anyone else in the café, though." In response, the young man next to the detective nodded slightly at Ryuzaki, and offering a kind expression of admiration, he complimented the detective. "Good work, Ryuzaki."
Perfect. Light thought, grinning a little at Ryuzaki. Now I find a way to show Ryuzaki who she is... Or maybe he'll figure it out himself. Then, I can set a plan into action.
