The dark haired detective was sitting in a soft, red armchair in his hotel room. The headquarters was currently under construction but once it was complete, the detective would have his own private room there so he would need to remember a chair as comfy as the one he sat in. Even the chair made all the difference in his work. If he was uncomfortable or unsatisfied in any way (such as feeling hungry) the detective would refuse to work.
On the table in front of him was a top quality laptop, which was hard to come by.... At least for the typical person, but this man wasn't ordinary. His grey eyes quickly skimmed over the screen as he read the articles and graphs. After reading for several minutes, the detective raised his hands from the laptop's keyboard. One hand fell on his knee, over the fabric of his jeans. The other hand raised to below his face and he chewed his thumbnail, deep in thought.
He reviewed all the facts and content he knew about "Kira" in his mind, trying to make connections. Unfortunately, the detective's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his door opening. Then entered Light Yagami, the teenager whom the detective was suspicious of.
173 cm. 54 kg. The son of Soichiro Yagami, a detective who was helping the young man on the case, along with other members of task force. And a smart boy who entered To-Oh University with perfect grades.
Presently, this almost "too-perfect" boy was standing in front of the detective. "L." He said, calling the detective by what he was known as, though, Light knew that this most definitely was not his real name. He had tested it after meeting the man anyways, but it was to no avail. So he stood in front of the now closed door, a tray in his hands, which held a slice of strawberry cake and a cup of coffee with a bowl of sugar on the side.
The detective's head turned. His large eyes seemed bored, the lids heavily covering half his eyes. "Light-kun. You've brought me sweets?" His voice seemed solemn and rather, bored, once again. Light was upset by his attitude with him. God, show some enthusiasm, you damn sociopath. Of course Light refrained from allowing sarcasm to pass his lips.
Instead he forced a friendly smile, which seemed real. It was a special, hidden talent, really. Light was a fantastic actor and could lie without any qualms at all. "That's right." He approached the man with the tray. "Watari-san was going to but he seemed pre-occupied so I volunteered to." So far, he hadn't lied... Even if he left out the part about how he was dying to speak to the detective.
Light handed the tray to L. The raven haired man pushed away his laptop and set the tray down on the table. Instead of thanking Light for bringing him his sweets, he instead said, "By the way, please refrain from calling me L. I don't need you to get in the habit. Call me Ryuzaki now."
Light held back an annoyed sigh and instead smiled softly and said, "Of course, Ryuzaki." L turned to his sweets without a word more. This bothered Light.
Honestly, I'm trying to be nice and you can't even be bothered to give a polite 'thank you'? What an emotionless, insolent asshole you are, Ryuzaki. I can't wait to bring you down and kill you.
L had grabbed his fork for the cake and lifted a piece of the cake to his lips already. He was completely ignoring Light! Did he hate him or something? Light decided to say something. He couldn't leave yet. He needed some sort of information.
"Ryuzaki... Is it okay if I stay to speak with you? About the case and such...." His words were slow and careful. He didn't want to say anything that could possibly upset the fractious man. At this the detective sighed softly, and slowly turned his head to look at Light. "Yes, I suppose. Sit down." He gestured to the sofa on the long side of the coffee table.
Now a real, small smile crossed Light's lip. He was one step closer to what he wanted. As he leaned back into the sofa, Light wondered to himself what his next move would be.
