At 3:02 in the morning, Light Yagami collapsed onto his bed at home, sinking deeply into the soft sheets. His jacket had been tossed onto the chair at his desk and the top three buttons of his dress shirt were opening, revealing some of his toned chest, but of course, nobody was around to see this.

"You're finally home!" Well, there was one person around to see. Although, saying this voice belonged to a person, was far from the truth.

Light turned over onto his side with a groan and dragged his heavy eyes to look at the one who had spoken. Forcing only a small smile he said, "Hey, Ryuk."

It was probably a while ago now, probably nearing half a year, since Light had encountered Ryuk for the first time. This encounter was only a few days after he had found the "Death Note" lying around outside his school and taken it. And why this brought them together was because... This killing instrument, a notebook where one writes the name of a person they wish to kill, had once belonged to Ryuk the Shinigami. And while it may have been fate that the Death Note fell into Light's hands, it was also something that could have been avoided entirely as Ryuk had intentionally dropped the book he had once owned to write human's names in and steal years of their lives.

"I get so bored here, Light!" Cried out the shinigami rather loudly. "You need to return home sooner! I have no one else to talk to!" Of course, Ryuk had no one else to talk to, not only for the reason that people would panic if they saw a monstrous looking god of death, but also because nobody else could see or hear him unless they touched the Death Note. This was also why Light wasn't upset with Ryuk for yelling. It wasn't as if Sayu, Light's younger sister, would enter his room and see a giant, hunched over monster.

Light let out a soft sigh as he sat up and turned his eyes away from Ryuk. "I know, Ryuk. But what I'm doing with L right now is very important." His fingers rose to his shirt and started to finger loose the remaining buttons. "And on top of that, I have to continue killing criminals." He sighed. "Being Kira is a busy job."
His shirt separated down the middle with the buttons no longer holding it together. This revealed a toned and slightly tanned stomach.

While Light Yagami may have seemed to only be a serious student, who seemed to attend to only his studies, but Light was more than that. After all, he was practically perfect (depending what's someone's definition of what perfection was). He may have not ate particularly healthily, but thanks to the muscles and thus quick metabolism Light had built up ever since Junior High when he started to become a more serious athlete, he had a great body.

And as Light had said, being Kira, the "force" killing off criminals, was a very busy job. He had spent the last twelve hours at task force. He hadn't yet wrote any names in the Death Note all day. Of course, he had saved up a few names in their with predetermined dates of deaths so it would be okay to skip a day every now and then... But if Kira would always end up spending this time at task force headquarters, then he couldn't let this become habit.

So, after removing his shirt and placing it in the hamper, Light got up and turned on the 20" television in the corner of his room to a channel called the news. At this Ryuk groaned. "You have time to watch the news but you don't have the time to play a round of Mario cart with me?" To this, Light ignored Ryuk. He didn't have the time to deal with this annoying Shinigami, which unfortunately would be with him until he died.

Light sat down at his desk across from the television and watched, memorizing the names of criminals as different stories were announced. Of course the crime rate had gone down so most of the criminals were pretty petty nowadays but there were a few good ones announced. A stoned guy who had robbed a convenience store and in the process killed the cashier, a young female college student blackmailing younger girls in high school and one in junior high into prostitution, and then a few smaller crimes. Light groaned. "Even with the Kira, the world is still so filthy."

He turned off the television and instead shifted his chair to face his desk. Light opened the drawer on the right side of the desk with a key and inserted a pen into the bottom through a small hole. A diary rested over top a fake bottom, and by using the pen in this way, Light was able to lift the bottom and get was he was actually hiding... the Death Note.

And with this write wrote the names of all his new victims. By the time he was putting the Death Note back in its place, it was already almost four in the morning.

Light removed his pants now and placed them into the hamper along with his shirt he was thrown in there and several other articles of clothing.

Ryuk was hanging upside down from the ceiling as Light turned off the lights and climbed into bed. They hadn't spoken for the past while but now Ryuk spoke. "Say, Light... Haven't you discovered anything at task force yet?"

This irritated Light. Leave me along, Shinigami. You're too lazy and incompetent to understand what it takes to be Kira. But Light sighed softly. "No...." He started to say quietly. "But-," He stopped. No he had discovered something. Well, it was a theory anyways.

Light continued. "I've come to realize how empty L really is. So I've decided, if I can become his friend... The only person he can trust, then maybe I can get his name out of him that way."

Ryuk chuckled. Hyuk, Hyuk. "If this is easier for you than the Shinigami eyes... Go right ahead. But just as with the Death Note, doing something like this could torture you mentally. Are you prepares to face the consequences?"

"Please," Light scoffed as he looked at Ryuk, leaning back on his elbows. "I'll never care enough for this pathetic loner to feel any remorse."

So that's how it was. If Light had an excuse to justify his actions, he felt nothing towards victims. No remorse or pity or anything. And his plans now were simply for L to be nothing more than just another victim.
