My grandparents are waiting for me with a big welcome poster. Grandma is wearing her favorite blue dress with her Jaclyn Smith black coat she loves so much. Grandpa is wearing his baseball hat and his black matching coat. I leave my luggage bag next to the vending machine, while I run to my grandparents' arms.
''Grandma! Grandpa!'' I greet them and kiss their cheeks.
''Luna! Look at you! You look lovely as always!'' Grandma tells me.
''You've gotten taller over the past month'' Grandpa mentions.
''Lois, go grab her luggage bag while we catch up with some girly stuff'' Grandma tells grandpa.
''I got it honey''
''Tell me sweetie, how was your flight?'' She asks me.
''It was alright''
''I can tell something's bothering you, what's wrong sweetie?'' She asks.
I can't believe she notices something's wrong.
''I'm just really tired grandma, but everything is okay'' I tell her and fake a smile.
We arrive to my old neighborhood, the familiar smell of the wind. I missed Chicago. I grab my purse an my luggage bag from the back seat. Veronica opens the front door and gets my stuff.
''Hello Veronica!'' I greet her and give her a hug.
''Ms. Clark, how are you? Would you like me to take you to your room?'' She asks nicely.
''Would you please take my stuff up to my room? I'll go use the bathroom.'' I tell her and she takes my things.
I go to the bathroom downstairs and check my phone. I have five missed calls and texts from Alexander. He left me a voicemail. I don't know if I should call him back or not. His mother made it clear he did not spent the night home, and he was hanging out with Taylor. I always had a very bad feeling about Taylor. First of all, she hates me for who knows what, maybe she and Alexander had a thing before I arrived and now she's trying to get him back. What if he spent the night with Taylor? What if they did something? Oh my god.
I do not feel like talking to Alexander right now so I text him instead.
'I'm finally at Chicago. The flight was good. I'm fine'
'I'm glad you're okay, please call me I owe you an explanation'
Now fuck that Alexander. He does owe me an explanation, but I don't want to hear it right now. I can't believe he lied to me.
'I can't right now. I'm busy catching up with grandma. Call you later'
'Okay. But, please call me. Love you, imy'
Did he just texted me he loves me? Well, that's something new.
''Luna, c'mon we have some serious catching up to do'' Grandma yells from outside the bathroom.
''Give me a few more minutes'' I yell back.
I go up to the guest's room, where I will be sleeping for the next two weeks. Veronica has placed my luggage bag by the edge of my bed. I take a look outside from the balcony. Oh the clear skies, the greenish back yard, and the pool. I remember spending every evening with my grandparents after coming from school. I would swim on the pool every weekend.
Grandma appears in my bedroom with her coat off.
''Do you like it? Veronica changed all the sheets and pillows''
