You patiently waited for the subway to come by, you sat on the bench with your leather jacket and (f/c) beanie on. You silently watched the other pedestrians walking in and out, left to right, and chatting amongst themselves and enjoying the chilled weather. You pulled out your phone and checked the time, 4:32 pm, No New Messages.

I hope he remembers.

You worried as you stared at the time, you sighed and waited for the subway to come by. Slowly your anxiety staring to raise, you kept yourself calm by taking in deep breaths, but you stop since the coldness was piercing your nose. You felt your stomach plunge when the subway you have to take was gradually stopping. You got up and adjusted your messenger bag, entering in the underground train, taking a seat.

The subway ride seems longer than normal, you guessed that the more nervous you got, the more you get stuck in your mind. Why not be more involved in the world, or pay attention to what's going on around you? It's doesn't work in that way for you, the more you see George in every fall, at always the same place, you seem to worry more about him. Why?

You shook your head and rubbed your temples from overthinking so much about such a small situation. The subway pulled over and announced in the intercom system, 35th ave & Stuart Street. You picked up your items and walked out and up the stairs. Your (e/c) orbs wandered around the familiar surroundings of the street lamps and lights coming from business signs.

You walked down the street for two blocks and turned right to a vacant building, you stopped and took in the all the weather damage that was done. Mold, chipping paint, and loads of graffiti of different types of art or gang-related writing.

Looking left to right as you crossed the road and passed the rundown building, you stopped in front of a fence and examined it. You frowned that the city had replaced it, dropping your bag, you took out a small wire cutter and cut along the frame. Picking up your stuff, placing then back in your bag, and walking through the fence to the back of the building.

Walking 5 yards ahead then stopped, your brain felt refreshed after seeing the familiar surrounding, like the chipped fountain, the broken path, and cracked stairs towards the building. Right before the steps, you saw George standing there, the panic was swarming around you and relief of seeing your long time friend. George turned towards you and greeted you with a smile.

"Hey, wassup?" George said with a cigarette in hand then putting it out. "Long time no see, huh?"

"Yeah, but it was only for a year." Replying softly, you stood right next to him and admire the city skyline in the evening time. George looks down towards you and back to the skyline, "So, how you been?" You asked, not bothering to look at him.

"Good good. Ava, that little brat," laughing to add humor, "she's been asking 'bout you lately, like 'where's (y/n)?' and 'when is she coming back?', but overall, she's doing good." His lips tugged into a smile while chuckling, you laughed with him as well. You studying him, even though the last time you saw him was last year, his appearance changed, his skin tone seemed darker and bags were almost visible, but you shook away the rude behavior.

"That's good. Tell her I said 'hi'." You smiled at the ground of moist dirt.

"Yeah, I've been doing good, too, and taking care of Ava since, you know, her mom and I didn't get along anymore, but all is good." His attitude towards between him and his ex sounded like he wasn't bothered, but you can read him like a book, and you knew it killed him on the inside.

"Oh, sorry about what happened, you know, the two of you." Looking away, you felt sorry for him and Ava, you tried to think of when you can visit her.

"It's fine, what about you? What have you been up to?" You sat down the cracked concrete steps and George joined with you. You fiddled with your fingers and taking in a breath of air.

"Oh, I've been traveling a lot more than before with my new job as (job occupation), like not too long ago, I went on a trip to Moscow for a promotional event." Smiling with true happiness in your career.

"That's cool, same here with HU, we have a show here tomorrow night, plus you're lucky that I able to come by tonight." Your heart stopped momentarily, worryingly looking at him as his face was blank from emotions.

So, he wouldn't be here right now...

"So, if I wasn't lucky, then you wouldn't have shown up." He nodded yes. "Oh," frowning, "ok, then."

"Don't worry (y/n), I won't stop seeing you because you've always looked out for me." Nudging you on the shoulder, George's phone was ringing, pulling it out, and answering it. "Yeah, uh, no. Can't you do it without me? Fine, fine, I'm coming. I'll be there in 30 minutes." He hung up his phone. "I have to go now (y/n), the band needs me to do an interview with them."

"Oh, but why do you have to go? I mean, can't they do the interview without you?" You questioned him, on the inside you were begging and pleading for him not to go so soon. He stood up and towered over you with his hands in his front pockets.

"Yeah, they said they wanted the whole band here, or something, I don't know for some fucking media bullshit." You nodded and stood up with the help of George. The two of you hugged each other for while and until finally, George had to leave.

"Bye, George. Tell the band, I said hi." Sadly you waved off as he made his way to the fence you cut your way through.

"Bye (y/n), see you next fall." Looking down at your shoes, kicking it to send the laces flying in the air. Another 365 days to go. "Oh, by the way (y/n)," you jerked your head up, "next time when we meet, you'll be getting a surprise from me." Grinning ear to ear, as that sly George has always made you eager to see him again on every fall.

"Ok, next fall?"

"Next fall."
