Archibald Carmichael woke up that morning to his dog's wet and warm tongue licking at his face restlessly. "Oscar... enough..."
he groaned at the dog and tried to push him away from his face, dog breath first thing on the morning wasn't so pleasant.
Oscar let out a few determined barks and his owner couldn't help but huff .
"Okay okay I'm up!"
He knew exactly what his great dane wanted and he also knew that he better get up before his oversized dog would start jumping on him. It happened once, he didn't want a repeat.
Arch lazily strolled to his first floor of his penthouse, he yawned and cursed his dog for the early hour. Oscar followed him, nudging him to hurry .
"Damn dog, let me eat breakfast first will you?"
Arch muttered in irritation and entered the kitchen, grabbing eggs from the fridge and quickly frying them. Once they were ready he ate the most and left the rest for his dog, after that he showered, brushed his teeth and got dressed.
" Let's go!"
He called and opened the door to his ecstatic dog that wiggled his tail and hurried out of the apartment.
They went down the elevator of that 25 floor high extravagant building, he liked living on the top and most expensive floor, the fact he purchased it all by himself with no help from his parents was remarkable .
Even though his dad offered a few times to fund his lifestyle , Arch preffered being independent and owe nothing to his parents , he was successful enough to provide himself.
Yes he worked at the family business but his father retired two years ago and he managed 'Carmichael Enterprises ' and increased it's ruling in the market and expand in the current economic growth.
He was Archibald Carmichael. Everyone knew him, everyone envied him, everyone desired him or desired to be him. He was a top dog in the market and a leader to be reckoned. But today he was just Arch, he took a day off for a change to just lazily enjoy this nice day with Oscar. Well truth was he was forced by his secretary and close friend, Thomas , to take a day off because according to him, Arch was a 'workaholic ', something he refused to believe he was.
Speaking of work, he should check how things going. He quickly dialed his phone as he stepped out of the building and followed his dog to the nearby park.
"I hope you're calling for a good reason, " Thomas answered "and it better not be work related. "
Arch paused before clearing his throat awkwardly .
"How are you?"
He said poorly and received a snort from the other side.
"Do yourself a favor and relax, no phone calls Arch, I'm taking care of everything so you have nothing to worry about. You'll be updated tomorrow. Bye" and the line went dead making Arch sigh and frown.
It was hard on him , he was really invested in 'Carmichael Enterprises ' ,working as twice as hard than his CEOs and staying till late to make sure all was good and set.
He was evidently the reason the business went smooth and easy, he made sure to exceed expectations and excell and for that he was respected and admired.
How could he enjoy the day when all he could think of was what's going on at work and if the world would come to an end due to his absence . He sighed as he realized he was overreacting.
"Just one day... I can do that."
He murmured and strolled to sit on a bench, watching his dog running around and sniffing almost anything.
He examined the passer bys with a bored look, a few would return a flirtatious wink or a suggestive smile, men and women as one.
He wasn't interested. Archibald was a handsome man that drew attention easily - tall, dark brown hair that was short from behind and a bit long on the front, he styled it back with gel when he went to work, dark grey eyes that looked stormy enough to shake anyone's composure ,a slight scruff and his signature grin.
He never smiled a full wide smile, a small grin was stretched enough for him if he wanted to show amusement or satisfaction of some sort. People said he was too serious, but truth was he couldn't find good enough reasons to form a big smile. His life were good he guessed and he liked his work but that was it, he had nothing more on his plate to make him ecstatic and happy.
Of course his parents blamed it on the fact he was a bachelor but he thought nothing of that, on the contrary being single made it easier for him to flirt in purpose of closing some deals.
He was gay, proudly out of the closet since the age of 15 ,but that didn't prevent him from flirting with women as well.
He had numerous men to occupy his bed along the years but he couldn't really find himself in a long lasting actual relationship, he was 31 and still jumped from guy to guy with sex as his only goal.
The media criticised him enough for it so hearing it from his parents repeatedly did nothing but annoy him. He brought the occasional guy to dinners and parties with him but that was it.
"Oscar! Come!"
He called for his dog, deciding it was enough. Oscar seemed displeased but followed him nonetheless .
Back at the penthouse he was debating what to do with himself, he had a whole day and he had to find some activity that would make time fly by for him so tomorrow can come and he'd go to work.
Maybe reading a book? Watching TV? No, he needed some action, to leave his place... Suddenly he remembered a very favourite activity.
