It has been a busy week for Cedrick doing rounds of promotion for his latest movie. He'd been in New York for several days now. According to my source, he would be appearing in a live interview with Jon Stewart tomorrow night. Cedrick has called a few times to check on how things are back here in LA, but given the fact that he has been in a different time zone made it a bit difficult.
It has been four days since that night Jaymes answered Cedrick's call. Everytime I close my eyes, I could still see Jaymes' reaction from her resting face turned to a baffled astonishment in mere seconds....
"Cedrick?" Jaymes asked for the second time after looking at the phone and back at me.
"Cedrick is that y-" Jaymes stopped and I figured out Cedrick might have dropped the call.
I watched as Jaymes' confusion turned into a mix of betrayal and sadness as she dropped her hand with the phone and checked the caller's name on the phone. Ofcourse, it would not display Cedrick's number because what she's holding is his phone.
"Jaymes-I.."My throat went dry.
After three beats, Jaymes stepped once backward.
"That was Cedrick." She finally said.
I was taken off guard by how calm she sounded. She wasn't asking me for confirmation that it was Cedrick. She stated what was obvious.
"Yes." I muttered.
I stretched my arms towards her and asked for the phone. She held onto the phone and shook her head no.
"Jaymes, please give me the phone" I tried again.
"No." She said firmly. "I'm not giving it to you until you tell me how the fuck you got Cedrick's phone!"
She made a two steps towards my direction and in return I stepped twice backwards.
"Alright!" I said with my hands up in surrender.
"Lie!" Cedrick's plea before mad me rethink my decision.
"I saw Cedrick with his mate in a club downtown two or three days after your pictures were released in that magazine. They left him on his own probably to give him some space. I watched him not because he was Cedrick, no, definitely because he was Cedrick and I was curious."-which is true.
"That doesn't explain how his phone is with you."
"I'll get there, alright....patience and listen." I told her.
"So," I started again. "He stood up probably he's on the way home-where ever that might be, but the ever loving drunk that he was at that time, he collapsed back down to the couch. I went to his booth to check on him. I didn't have any hidden ideas for doing so..." I said hastily and defensively to Jaymes.
"Continue."
"Okay. So then I went there and asked if he needs any help. He told me that he just have to be on his car a bit rowdy if I must add. I called one of the club's bouncers for a hand. We put him inside his car as he ordered. I asked him where he was going and the club's valet offered to drive him but he didn't say a word. I asked the valet then to drive him to the nearest hotel and to keep it away from the prying cameras of the paparazzi all over the place. When I was about to give the valet enough tip for doing that favor, I suddenly realized that my phone wasn't in my pocket anymore so I went back to Cedrick and saw a phone in his hand. Thinking that it was probably mine, I took it."
