Epilogue: Home

I run your finger down the frame of the picture, wondering what poor souls will have to face the hell me and my friends did a year ago. Coming home was the best decision I ever made, after Josh wrote a long letter about how he misses me and loves me. I hear a knock.

"Hey C! They're here! Don't keep them waiting, plus you are the one in charge of the turkey!" Josh shouts, opening the door, dressed handsomely in his red flannel and jeans. I smile, looking down at my red plaid over-shirt and black tank top with black skinny jeans.

"Matching? I like that..." I say. Josh laughs and grabs your wrist to come along.

"Hey! So glad you could make it, with this cold snowy weather I was afraid no one would come!" I say to Sam, hugging her as she sets the Christmas presents down by the oversized tree Josh and I had cut down a week ago. Me and Josh had spent a lot of your Christmas spirit decorating this tree, strings of popcorn, or what was left after our popcorn fight that day. The large glass ornaments and the nice pictures of everyone together. It was nice. I smiled as Mike walked in the door. I am now twenty, my birthday was amazing, and a surprise party. Josh was the criminal behind scaring me on your birthday. On Josh's birthday I took him on a hunting trip. He has helped me get over my depression just as much as I have helped him.

"I know, but I wouldn't miss this reunion for the world!" She says, sitting on the fluffy couch of our living room. Me and Josh had saved up enough money with donations from his parents, to buy a big McMansion for the two of us, which had the feeling of a lodge or cottage, what with the wooden log walls and mounted deer heads and whatnot. Me and Josh have had fun, living together for a year.

"Mike, I'm glad you and Jess made it!" I hug the both of them. Me and Jess have recently started to get along, now that the incident has left an impact on everyone's lives. Emily and Matt come in, bickering about something as usual. This is Emily's way of showing her affection for Matt. I hug them and help them carry the many boxes over to the tree.

*During Christmas Dinner*

"Are we gonna open presents after dinner, or will we do something else before then?" Jessica asks. We all laugh and Mike kisses her forehead.

"Actually, me and Josh have planned a game?" I say, winking at him. He nods and gets up. Little does everyone know that we are going to play a bunch of college sleep over games, watch movies, and then we are going to play a fun version of hide and seek, where the last person to be found is the person that has to drink a glass of eggnog. I explain what we all are doing, so the game will be after presents and it will be lots of fun. Everyone agrees, even Ashley, who Chris has to kiss and coax to join in.

"Okay, I'll take your plates, you go get settled into the living room!" I say, grabbing the plates and cups. Ashley comes in.

"Let me help." I smile.

"Thank you, I've learned never to refuse help!" I laugh and scrub the cranberry sauce off of some of the plates. I take some soap off of the surface of the water and blow it at Ashley. She gasps, laughing as she does the same to me. It continues while we wash the dishes, sneak attacking each other until the dishes are clean and dry.

"I'll put 'em away tomorrow. Let's go join everyone else!" I say. Ashley grabs my arm.

"T-thank you, Claire. Thank you for, for being you, saving us, and helping us through everything, we really owe you." I hug Ashley for what seems like forever.

"No, thank you Ash, you've always been there for me as a friend, and I have never wanted anything more than to be friends with a person as loyal, kind, brave and amazing as you are today, and everyday." I smile, trying not to cry. Me and Ashley walk out into the living room, sitting down next to each other, Matt on my other side and Chris on Ashely's other side. I wonder what is taking Josh so long to get things ready. I start handing around presents. I make a list of what everyone got:

Matt- xBox from Mike, sports book from Ash, kiss and another letter jacket from Emily, new football from me, box of cologne and other man products from Chris, Adidas from Josh, hair gel from Jessica, scrapbook of old photos from Sam.

Emily- box of perfumes and lotion from Ash, shoes from Jessica, chocolate & kisses & giant teddy bear from Matt, necklace from me, sunglasses from Josh, bag of makeup products from Sam, board game form Chris, bracelets from Mike.

Mike- new leather jacket from me, Cologne from Josh, hair gel & kisses & a boner (XD I had to I'm sorry *cough cough*) from Jessica, watch from Emily, ps4 from Matt, rifle from Chris, boots from Sam, rifle case from Ashley.

Chris- kisses & snuggles & a blanket to cuddle under from Ashley, Cologne from Mike, video games from me, jar of peanuts and cashews from Josh,(pretend Chris loves peanuts a LOT) hair gel from Jessica, letter jacket from Matt, sweatshirt from Emily, iPhone from Sam.

Ashley- kisses & chocolate & a bracelet from Chris, music box from me, pictures from Jessica, makeup from Emily, makeup from Sam, perfume from Mike, baseball cap from Josh, tiara from Matt.

Sam- makeup from me, an old yet amazing sweater from Josh, new tennis shoes from Emily, perfume from Jessica, basket of cookies from Chris, novels from Matt, iTunes card from Mike, chocolate & throw blanket Ashley.

Jessica- basket of sweets from me, kisses & hugs & a necklace from Mike, manicure coupons and perfume from Ashley, sunglasses from Josh, shoes from Matt, body wash from Chris, dresses from Sam, box of chocolate and a SMILE?!?! From Emily?!

Josh- basket of homemade cookies & chocolate & a new coat from me, ps4 from Mike, sunglasses from Ashley, pictures of them & video games from Chris, chocolates & cafe coupons from Sam, signed baseball from Matt, Cologne from Jessica, hunting bow from Emily. (He opened them later!!)

Me- a necklace from Mike, a basket of chocolate chip cookies from Ashley, video games from Chris, makeup from Sam, shoes from Jessica, treasure chest filled with chocolate gold coins from Emily, hugs and a glass chess set from Matt.

I scan the room for Josh, but nothing. My head sinks a little and Ashley giggles. My head jerks up and I see everyone looking behind me except Sam. She smiles and jerks her head. I turn to see Josh down on one knee, a box with a beautiful ring in it and the biggest smile I have ever seen plastered onto his face. I start to cry as I stand up and make my way around the couch. He stands up and hugs me, then kneels back down again. I can see Chris filming the whole thing with his phone.

"Claire, you have helped me, so much, you have helped me through all of the hard times, you've been there for all of the good times since day one. Now, all I want is to spend forever with you, only you, and maybe have a nice family along the way. I know I have made my mistakes and I regret it, but you saved me from that, and I want you to know that no matter how much I don't show it or forget to say it, I... I love you. And I want you to be mine for as long as we can be together. So, Claire... Will you-"

"YES!!! Oh my gosh, yes!!!" He wraps me in a tighter hug, but I don't care that I can't breath. Everyone is cheering behind me and I smile. Chris stops recording and smiles.

"Awe, finally!!" Sam shouts and smiles. Josh wipes the tears from my cheeks.

"Why are you crying??" He says.

"Cause.... This is the happiest I have ever been in my life, no offense you guys." I say, smiling back at my friends.

"None taken!" They all say in unison.

We all finish off the night with the games that were promised, everyone ending up drunk and way to happy. Some funny business did go on between Mike and Jess, but they were upstairs in the guest room so it didn't really bother anyone else. I fell asleep in Josh's arms, hoping to stay like this forever.
