He was wrong when he thought his words would break down the walls around your heart. The pain from his actions was buried deep in your heart. You became stronger, colder, a merciless hunter taking down anything and everything with a new found fervor. You searched out new cases the bigger, the worse, the better no matter the risk you went in there with only one thing on your mind redemption.

Your thoughts were the only thing keeping you company Did he mean it? Why is he saying this now? What changed? You pushed way the questions and doubts not wanting to bring back the feelings you had painstakenly numbed with each of your hunts. Sleep plagued you, but the sweet embrace of your bed was taken away when you heard a knock at the door. You made your way to the motel room door already knowing from the chills that ran down your spine who was at the other side. Your strength wavered for a second when you gripped the handle knowing that the man outside your door had the power to hurt you more than any monster you would ever face.

Dean, You looked at him with what you hoped was a look of cold steel and conviction "What do you want ?" He searched your eyes again for the person who you knew was long gone, the pleasant smile on his face faltering when saw that you did not mirror his look. " I..uh..wanted to see you, you took off pretty quick back there," he said.

You searched his eyes for any anger towards you if it wasn't for your incompetence Sam wouldn't have jumped in if you hadn't distracted Cas he would still be alive, but you found nothing but sadness in his eyes making you wonder Why didn't he hate me? You opened the door wider to let him inside watching him take a seat on your bed and patting the space beside him. You heard yourself scoff slightly at his proposal, deciding instead to sit in the chair across from the bed and him.

"(Y/N) I'm sorry if I left you behind after Detroit, but I thought you would be safer without me .. I hoped you went to Bobby's" he said with sadness wrought in his features. " I did go by Bobby's," you say "But he told me where you went and I understood what you had decided to do. I wasn't going to be the reason you didn't get to be happy Dean so I just picked up some case and just kept rolling on," you say solemnly deciding against telling him how much it hurt when he ran into Lisa's arms or how you passed by their house on more than one occasion watching him kiss her sweetly when she returned from work.

"That doesn't explain why you're here now," you say wanting him to get to the point. " (Y/N) I meant what I said back there... I Love You" his eyes shining for the first time since you started the conversation all you saw in his eyes was hope. " Dean...you hurt me more than anything has ever hurt me in my entire life...you left me behind to go to someone else and honestly I don't blame you for wanting to be happy, but you left your entire life behind ...including me," You say quietly, tears lining your eyes.

Dean gets up and kneels in front of you wiping away the rebel tears, he cups your face and you feel the walls around your heart fall. He gently lifts your face to look him in the eye and he gives you a soft smile that melts your cold heart. "I left because I hoped you would be better off without me, I thought if I left the life that I could be normal, but I was wrong.

"(Y/N) my normal is with you, My apple-pie life is with you because there ain't no me if there ain't no you" he says as he stands up and holds out his hand. you look at his weathered palm realizing you had just heard the words you had craved from him for years. The strength you were hiding behind was just facade and you were terrified of giving into his love because you knew it would be so easy to lose him. You stood up and looked into his eyes all you could see was love and you knew that if one risk is all it took for you to be able to see his eyes full of love every day for the rest of your life then it was no risk at all.

"I love you too"
